Improving Your Deals Part 4: Basic Windows Snipping Tool & Paint Guide
Latest Deals
For anyone using a PC who may have had trouble posting a decent image with their deal, this short guide could come in handy.
It's only a basic guide but it may help someone.
One common practice for copying the image is to simply right click on the website image and select "save as", the image looks fine on the website but sometimes when you upload the saved image with your post it seems to go blurry or shrink into a low res version.
One useful tip for overcoming this is to go into windows accessories and find the snipping tool. Right click and save it to your taskbar for easy access.
Click on new and left click on the mouse to draw a box around the target image. The resulting image will appear allowing you to rename it. The image should now look exactly as it did on the website when you upload it with your post.
Windows Paint
There are plenty of tutorials about so I will just cover image resizing and rotating aswell as adding and resizing text.
Windows Paint can be found in your Windows start menu and looks like this:
It is very useful for deal images as you can use it to make your image bigger or smaller aswell as rotate or reverse it. Below is an image of a deal I posted in the past for a complete heated bathroom floor.
I used Snipping tool to take the individual images and then Paint to resize and put them together into a sort of collage.
Here is a simple image guide I made using the snipping tool and then Paint to add the text.
If you're new to this info then have a play with snipping tool and paint and get to know the basics, it can really help in the future when you're battling with fuzzy or low res images.
Another more in depth chat post on using Paint to enhance your deal images is needed, so I will put one together another day.
Thanks for reading
hello , can i ask how you do the collage, i tried and failed many times yesterday.
lets say for a start with only 2 photos. thank you
Hi! Here is a collage I made for a drawing bundle deal from WHSmith. I will run you through the steps of how it was done
Here are the links to the items at WHSmith. Load each page, right click on each image and select "open in new tab" this will create a new tab with a nice clean image for you to snip out using snipping tool. Once you have all 5 images saved then you can start constructing the collage.

The first thing to decide is what will be the centrepiece for the deal image. In this case I felt it was the wooden figure.
So the first thing is to load the figure into paint using the "Paste from" tab
Now that's been done you are free to position the figure anywhere you would like. But as you can see it's slightly too big for the collage. So we will need to shrink it to fit.
That's much better. Now it fits fine. Remember that changing the image size will affect the resolution and if you go too far in either direction your image will start to pixalate. Likewise if you reduce the image but it's still not small enough, don't continue to shrink the image as an image shrunken down twice will pixalate. So instead reload the image and alter the percentage by slightly more.
So we have our image centrepiece in place. Now it's time to add the other images. This art deal came with 2 books, so the obvious choice was to place the books either side of the wooden figure. So now load the the 2 books into Paint one at a time. Again you may need to play with the resize tool to get them to fit nicely. In this case the first book fits nicely as it is, but the black book will need to be reduced in size to 40%:
So far so good. Now we are going to fill the 2 spaces to the left and right of the figure's head with the last item in the art deal, which is the pencil set. On the WHSmith site there's 2 images available. The 1st is of the pencil set in it's case, the 2nd is the set laid out of the case. Take both images and we will use them to fill the spaces:
So carambar that is the guide on how to make this image. Good luck, let me see your results if poss. If you need any help I'm right here.
No probs! Good luck. I am looking forward to seeing your results. Work on following this guide for practice and then you will be ready to make a collage for one of your own deal images, which I would be glad to help with aswell. Teamwork!
Doing this guide helps me too because I can re-use this to make into a chatpost!
