Most Inconvenient Gift?

Ask a Question

What's the most inconvenient gift you have ever been given?

Some examples could be:

1) Experiences where you had to drive really far to get to it

2) A voucher that wasn't enough so you had to put money towards it

3) A gift for one of the kids like trampolining that cost you money for you to go in and for your other child to do it

Thought this would be interesting!

I got an afternoon experience once and really they are a bit of nuisance trying to find your nearest one that fits the bill. I remember we had to drive a distance but couldn’t tell you where it was.

Pjran That's quite far to go for an afternoon tea!

SamGoodship yes I think we’ll spend more in petrol than the tea cost.

Not sure about inconvenient - but the same person buys me the same perfume every year. She knows I dont like it cos i told her it smells dreadful on me for some reason. She said oh spray it on your clothes not directly on your skin lol.

I give it to the cancer treatment suite every year ready for their next raffle!

It’s happened more than once that friends, - sometimes the same ones repeatedly (incidentally who’ve known me years) buy me gifts of earrings for pierced ears when I’ve never had my ears pierced. I’m 80 now and it still happens. In the past I’ve tried taking them back to the store where they were bought from (not knowing then about the rule that earrings for pierced ears will not be exchanged). It’s not that I’m ungrateful and have taken them into Charity Shops in the past, but now they refuse to accept them.

It’s not that it’s inconvenient but it’s just more the fact that someone needs to get you something because you got them something.

Normally it’s just something that you don’t have to put any thought into or something you don’t want after repeatedly telling them you don’t want a gift.

I am a totally immaterial kind of a person.

An experience for 3 couples activities over 3 months. They were all London based and I live ah hour outside of the city, had very limited availability and one ended up being refunded as they couldn't fulfill what was advertised. It ended up being expensive with travel and in difficult locations that took hours to get to.

The thought was lovely it just turned out to be impracticable
