Ask a Question

I am using a hand me down iPhone 6s which I have now had 4-5 years. Recently my battery is running down really fast and often and in settings says seriously degraded. I don’t have another hand me down and can’t afford a new iPhone. Should I try to replace battery or look for a more up to date phone? If latter do you have any suggestions? An older model but later than I have now? I don’t like idea of refurbished or second hand from someone I don’t know. Thank you.

You can get a battery for the iPhone 6s for under £20 on Amazon.

If you feel confident enough in trying to fit it yourself, watch a lot of YouTube tutorials beforehand and make sure you feel you can do it.

And if you are thinking of getting a newer model anyway you've not got much to lose, other than the price of the battery.

I would look for a new phone myself as apple will stop doing the updates on it have you tried refurbished ones from Amazon or carphone Wearhouse because you always get a guarantee or go for a android much cheaper phones in my opinion are better

I love an iPhone. But there are plenty of good phones out there that are actually being updated .As iPhone have stopped the a lot of the older models from being updated, so will put you at more risk with safety and being able to download or look at some other stuff. So I wouldn't waste your money on a new battery for that phone.

Do you know someone with an old but relevant phone that might be sitting in the drawer that you trust? As you could offer them a bit more than what they'd get trading it in, so win win situation for you both.

It depends what you are wanting it for. Samsung Galaxy cameras are amazing, but again make sure they have the correct and most up to date software allowed on them now.

The Pixels are suppose to be very good for their price range.

Thank you everyone. I don’t use it for funny pictures but I do take photos. I use lots of apps too. Hopefully I’ll find something soon.
