Irish Stew Recipes Please
Ask a Question
Hi everyone.
I'm after a recipe for Irish stew for St Paddy's Day.
I've made it before with shoulder, but will be using leg this time.
I've had a look online, but most of them say to use garlic. GARLIC in an Irish stew?
And advice would be appreciated.
I dont have a recipe myself TC , but using lamb and dumplings are a must for me with lashings of HP sauce in the stew, beef is ok too , heres one i found
It seems to be popular TheChimp but these don't have garlic www.daringgourmet.com/traditional-irish-stew/ or www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/irish-stew-0 or www.thespruceeats.com/traditional-irish-stew-recipe-435757

I've looked at all the recipes, but none of them are what I know as traditional Irish stew. Where's the pearl barley?
Our 3/4 Irish Student Radiographer Daughter is making Irish Stew for her Portadown born Da & I,we are REALLY looking forward to this Irish treat along with her Homemade Irish Soda Bread..
Daughter, her Dad & I last had Irish Stew in Portugal 's Erin's Isle on August 14th last year at 11pm as it was my partner's birthday, he wanted traditional Irish Stew & I found this place after going to another Irish Bar which we were celebrating but found out they didn't serve food!!
What about a slow cooker recipe and this one has peal barley:- www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/slow-cooked-irish-stew
Don't be fearful of garlic! I don't think there's a single meal I cook without at least a touch of garlic. If you're worried, use half teaspoon of garlic granules (as opposed to fresh cloves) to taste. Enjoy!
