This Japanese Airport Hasnt Lost One Bag in 30 Years

In the News

This sounds almost unbelievable and puts most airports to shame , including ours

Whereas losing our bags is an almost daily occurence , this airport in Japan has never lost one in the last 30 years

The airport is Kansai International Airport in Osaka, Japan and since operating from September 1994, with between 20 and 30 million passengers a year it has held this record

I wish they would let us know the secret

Maybe all the staff who work there are robots ?

Japan is both efficient and honest as a society so those are two reasons. Also maybe no one would ever claim for a lost bag as some sort of cultural difference in order to keep the never lost a bag title.

BonzoBanana I never thought of that last reason B 🤔

Jerseydrew Fair point, when I first skimmed read the report I thought it was a minor internal airport but its actually quite a major airport. It really is down to the great efficiency and integrity of the Japanese people. I was side tracked by that report about the huge number of Chinese EV's dumped in Europe and doing nothing.

www.express.co.uk/news/world/1900555/eu-news-china-electric-cars-antwerp-zeebrugge

Unbelievable. You wonder what is going to happen to them all and China itself has 100s of thousands of unsold EV's too. It seems like China have manufactured 10 EVs for every 1 they can actually sell.

telmel 😆 🤣 😂. I left my house keys on a rented car key so they posted them back to me and never got them. I got hold of head office and asked do they have lost property, and they said no, we don't

The Japanese are known to be very humble, efficient, and trustworthy.

Meanwhile, in the West...

Hopefully Japan sees the mistakes the West does and do the opposite.

PhilipMarc Its no surprise P , it happened to me, but luckily it was just a packet of sandwiches that went missing from the security check , someone must have felt peckish , i hope they liked ham and extra hot mustard 😀

That's an amazing record to hold. Hope they don't lose it. So far I've had one bag not make it on the plane it was left by the staff. Eventually I got it back but it was annoying. They took my sleeping bag out and blamed me for it. This was packed the same as the outward journey. Thankfully it was on the way home otherwise I'd have been screwed as it my stuff for a festival

I dread this happening, my mates case went missing last year, we go to turkey next week, we are mixing the clothing in cases this time just in case one goes missing, it shouldn't be like this

martinlufc5637 we took hand luggage only in 2022 for Spain. It was a pain but it worked fie us especially as it was the year the bags weren't getting loaded. It was awful walking through the airports just seeing bags dumped on the floor unclaimed

martinlufc5637 You can buy trackers to put in your case M, i did read airlines tried to stop them , but to date and according to google they are still allowed

Are luggage trackers allowed on planes? Although luggage trackers often have lithium batteries, they are still allowed in checked and carry-on bags. The FAA doesn't allow rechargeable lithium batteries with more than 100 watt hours per battery, but, luckily, tracking devices have less than that.Jan 19, 2024

telmel That's interesting I wonder where these bags and cases end up when they go astray, i.e. pinched rather than lost?

Japan’s customer service is next level, if you lose something on the train they will keep it in storage and attempt to track you down. They will also send it around the country to reunite it with you.

OK Airport in Japan. LIGHTEN UP! lol, have some Saki, let your hair down (although watch out for that hair demon I've heard about) Mistakes happen and yes it is bloomin annoying when we lose our luggage and are so happy that you don't, however you guys really need to learn how to chill out and party a little.
