Journey to Bethlehem (Antonio Banderas film)

Other

I can't believe, as I am a huge film fan, that I have never heard of this film let alone seen it.

I was browsing youtube when a scene from it popped up with Antonio Banderas as Herod singing a brilliant skit about how great it is to be king. Omid Djalili is one of the 3 wise men, obviously playing for laughs.

Whether or not you believe in the nativity it is a great family film for Christmas and came out just last year. I loved it and happy to watch again at the weekend with my guests for our monthly film night, if they fancy it.

Leannexxx do you mean as in you don't like musicals or his particular singing of that song? I love it as it is so sort of off the wall, it was an earworm for me for the whole day.

Lynibis it's musicals really but then again I didn't think I would like the greatest showman and ended up loving

Leannexxx I am same, I don't like musicals where dialogue is sung but quite like the odd song and dance, in this clip it just got me when the soldiers were dancing behind him, the tall one is his son lol.

Edit: not his real son but his son in the film

MelissaLee1 me too. I don't know if you ever watch YouTube but there is a fantastic clip of him dancing to 'Dance me to the end of Love', can't remember the film it's from but he is a dance teacher. Also a clip of him singing Phantom of the Opera with Sarah Brightman. He is multi talented and I loved his facial expressions in the above clip.

I had it on last week, I didn't like it and turned it off, I'm not a musical fan and found it a bit cheesy

martinlufc5637 I think that's what I loved about it. Antonio's expressions and over acting were spot on and I think they tried to play it down so those who aren't into religion would watch.

Actually my male guest didn't like it but female guest loved it so it could be a male/female thing.
