Should I Keep My CDs?

Ask a Question

I have dozens of CDs which i never play, in fact no longer have anything to play them on. I am not a great music listener but i have Amazon music on Alexa and that is enough for me, plus radio of course.

But judging by the rise of vinyl these days and the value of old LPs i was wondering if it is worth stashing them away in case they make a comeback.

My grandchildren might thank me in the future! What do you think, have you kept yours?

Someone said they are rising in value so if you’ve got the space then I’d hold onto them. We’ve kept ours just in case.

snoogans888 thanks for that, I was thinking maybe it was a bit of a stupid question but I guess what goes round comes round.

Leannexxx oh my goodness, would she like to buy mine lol. No, it seems a good idea to hang on to them after just a couple of responses, they don't take up too much space and my loft is empty lol.

I'm in the same situation but they're quite hard to part with.If I owned a mansion I'd have a music room but sadly that's not happening anytime soon.

MelissaLee1 Mine only take up a shelf on the TV unit, about 30/40 of them. However there is another spare shelf now and I am wishing I had not got rid of my DVDs!

martinlufc5637 the truth is, as I get older I am trying to get rid of stuff I no longer need so my kids don't have the hassle when I am gone. Sounds morbid but it is practical. However, they may be glad I kept them if they go the same way as lots of other stuff making comebacks!

Lynibis I've chucked all my dvds away and I had loads, but I'm struggling to part with my CDs, even though I haven't listened to any in years

No just get rid they're not worth anything. I got a John Lennon LP from 1979 and that's not worth anything so CDs no chance

I would call them gems antiques.

Especially when CDs are not as popular as they used to be until the 1990s.

If I had any then I would keep

Yes I have kept all my CD's. My adult children ask for a certain song to play for their children,my grandchildren. They soon pick up the words to the song. They won't remember songs and words if any in 10 years or more time.I will pass on my CD collection to my adult children and grandchildren.
