Do You Keep Your Seat Belt on While Flying?

Ask a Question

Just seen this in the news this morning www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/video-shows-boeing-flight-turbulence-33148073 You are told to leave your seat belt on during the flight so unless you need the toilet why undo it. You can loosen it, which is what I do.

I always leave mine on as I see it if I’m asleep they don’t need to wake me to put it back on again. I can chill knowing I won’t be disturbed.

IonaJones This is totally the same as me but unfortunately a few times they haven’t been able to see the belt and ask me to put it on. It’s like being at school and getting told off. But I smile and say it’s on.

martinlufc5637 We had the worse turbulence going over Indonesia a few years back but turbulence always seems to happen when they have just served hot drinks!

Jerseydrew This is exactly my thinking, no messing about, just leave it and then if you fall asleep you shouldn’t get disturbed.

I always have my seat belt on, I’m petite so luckily don’t notice it ( not uncomfortable for me )

I only undo it when I’m going to the toilet.

LL81 The seat belt do go quite large so I always wear mine pretty loose during the actual flight. I try not use the toilets unless it’s long haul. They scare me!

I always leave mine on, whether long or short haul. I’ll loosen a little at cruising altitude and retighten for landing. Only undo if need to use the facilities on board. Of on a long haul flight, I’ll undo to stretch legs a couple of times.

I usually just leave my sest belt on as it's no bother, obviously just take it off if I need to use the bathroom.

Whenever I've flew I always take it off, don't know if it's just me but I always feel that little more comfortable without it on

I keep my safety belt on all of the time as you never know when sudden turbulence will strike.I have seen unrestrained children running up the central aisle with parents not aware of the dangers of this activity. The cabin staff say nothing  and let them get on with it but this is a danger to themselves and to the rest of the passengers.

I stopped flying about 5 years ago due to health reasons. When I did fly I used to take my seat belt off whenever it was permissable as I hated being confined. I found flying very oppressive due to being in such a small space with lots of other people. The flying itself was not a problem for me.

EmmaWright762 I don’t particularly enjoy flying but if I want to get away needs must. I do a lot more cruising from Southampton. But we have a cruise booked in October that sails to the Caribbean so I will have to fly back. I also hate the confinement, I’m sure each time I travel the space is getting smaller. I haven’t got any bigger!
