Zombie style knifes and machetes to be banned from September , but knifes and swords are still allowed
Should all knifes in public be banned , with a jail sentence , not just these “zombie style” knifes
With the massive increase in knife crime and stabbings
All knives should be banned from being carried in public. There is no point in banning sales to underage kids as they will just bring them from home

I agree mostly but what if I’m visiting someone with a birthday cake I need to cut a certain way? I might need a special knife. Can I not travel with one then?
JLouM would you be carrying your incredibly special cake that can only be cut with a knife that you have whilst walking through the streets? Common sense has to play a part. Apart from a wedding cake i cant think of a cake that would need a special or maybe pretty knife. But unless you are the worlds worst baker I cant see you needing a zombie knife to cut a cake?

. I might need to carry a knife for my cake through streets if I got the bus. The original poster was asking should ALL knives be banned in public? Not just zombie ones. Obviously I agree with the really dangerous knives to be banned but ALL knives when you have a legitimate reason to use one I don’t. It’s whether the law is a ‘blanket’ one or knife specific.
You can stab someone with lots of different things even a sharpened knitting needle. The sort of people that stab other people don't care about laws about carrying knives and as the punishment for carrying them is so light anyway it doesn't matter. I just think we have to stop being so ridiculously idealistic and realise we need the death penalty for violent offenders who kill people. We are a bankrupt nation and we are still acting like there is money for everything. Nowadays there are cameras, genetic evidence and many other resources that allow much safer convictions than the past. People praise Japan for its low crime and safety and of course Japan has a death sentence with 107 people waiting for execution currently. I accept there are factors why Japan is so law abiding, ageing population, non-multicultural and of course well educated and high employment. However I still feel the death penalty is a factor in improving the crime rate.
Ultimately we have to up our deterents i.e. punishment because crime now is getting ridiculous with shop lifters having no fear of punishment at all. Same with people commiting violent crime many are back on the street in just a few years just to commit similar crimes.
The UK is plagued with idealists who just create more and more problems we have to get back to a realistic viewpoint based on our circumstances and finances. It's horrible and depressing to do so of course but its just the reality of the situation. Banning knives being carried in public is of course the right policy but its effect will be almost neglible because police haven't got the time and resources to search people. They don't even visit homes after burglaries or shops for shoplifting incidents. Even if they find people with knives where is all the money coming from to take them to court and prosecute them which is hugely expensive.
Lets not forget there is going to be a huge amount of tax claims now that online companies like ebay are going to be forwarding sales information for private sellers to the HM Revenue and Customs so likely 10s of thousands of people will start getting prosecuted next year which could tie up resources and in worst cases could mean 6 months in prison for some people. Huge fines will lead to people losing homes etc.
You can ban stuff, but it doesn't mean criminals will actually care about it being banned.
This is the U.K.'s version of the U.S. trying to ban guns. It's not helping law abiding citizens whatsoever in terms of self-defense.
Imagine you're being robbed in the U.K., you can't own pepper spray, you can't own a gun, you can't own a stun gun, you can't own a taser, you can't own a knife (technically possible if it's really small), so you're left at the mercy of the criminals.
Devils advocate : How do you buy a new knife (when shopping) and get it home without being arrested?
tumblespots you wouldn't get arrested if they are still in the packaging and honestly the police have a sense of who would be carrying well I think they would anyway
Why would you want to walk around with a knife, especially a zombie knife unless you wanted to use it for something sinister
martinlufc5637 I guess in a rough area where you need to show you are willing to fight back you can make a case for knifes. When the police are ineffective and you know someone stabbing you likely wouldn't be punished to any great degree you may feel carrying a knife is the right choice. It's very difficult situation in some environments judging what you should do I imagine. Where I am is probably 3/5 for crime and stabbings. Certainly not the best or the worst.
Any kind of knife has the ability to injure or kill. Makes no sense why all knives aren't banned 
I think they should yeah. What possible reason could anyone have for carrying that sort of thing other than to cause harm
