Laminates or Carpet

Other

Would you prefer laminates or carpets in your bedroom. I'm in two minds about what I want.

Carpet all the way, just got laminated flooring in kitchen & bathroom..

When the guy came to fit our carpets years ago, he said although he fits a lot of laminated flooring at people's homes he preferred carpet as it's warmer...

I have a wooden floor in my bedroom. I’m ground floor, so it works for us. Might be too noisy in an uostairs room

I have found that carpet doesn't last as long as it starts to become thinner and shows marks however it is so much warmer. Which is perfect in the winter. Laminate shows every single bit of dust but is easy to clean. It is also easier to move or change furniture on laminate without having marks in the carpet.

Swimmer94 that's my main concern, that the carpet will get thicker and dirtier faster. I'm painting my walls Manhattan grey so I was worried if I get light grey carpet it'll get dirty so fast.

SalmaS light grey is the worst for showing marks. My friend recently had light grey and within several months you could see different marks on it. Darker grey is much better and doesn't show it as much but it all depends on the quality too.

Swimmer94 true. I'm just worried dark grey might not go with the decor. Hence, was thinking of getting laminates. But have never had them in a bedroom before

SalmaS that is true, it is always so hard to visualise. With a nice thick rug as you get out of bed it's not bad at all. I have had it for a very long time and it is still like new even after redecorating and moving furniture. The only issue is the dust but if you keep on top of it it's not that bad.

I've had both and I personally prefer carpet. I actually found it harder to keep the laminate clean and it marked really easily. I have a carpet cleaner so easy to get marks etc out.

Laminate for entrance hall, kitchen and bathroom, carpets for rest of property.

What would be the most practical choice for you to have fitted in your bedroom? Pros and cons I've found is usually the best way to help make a decision.

Laminate flooring looks nice, but I wouldn't want it in my house. Carpet is much better, and warmer.

xKJG93 and if something gets spilt on laminate or any marks it’s easy to just wipe clean or mop unlike carpet

When we moved to our new house a few years back we decided on laminate throughout, we only had it down for 6 months and changed to carpets, dogs struggled to walk it on lol and it was a constant tap, tap, tap when they walked on it lol

I have carpet, prefer it especially this time of the years as it’s just much more warmer and cosy

Carpet for a bedroom, Laminate is too cold under feet especially in the winter

I like carpets for the winter but it’s more practical to have laminate, and I find it easier to clean. Just have laminate and throw a rug over the bits you want that ‘rugged’ patch

Seems there’s pros and cons to both. I think laminate is easier to clean and keep clean but it also makes a room colder

When I moved into my bungalow, there was laminate all the way through. I was happy to leave it as I really liked it and I couldn't afford to replace it with carpet anyway.

I find it very easy to keep clean, I just go around with a swiffer mop daily to keep the dust under control.

Having a carpet is cosier. I have bedrooms with striped back whitened boards with rugs on but Im tempted to carpet those rooms as they’re always colder in the winter.

Laminate downstairs and love it. Carpet upstairs. With kids the lounge is better not carpeted harder to get ruined.

I opted for carpet it's more comfortable and warmer. Although laminate is easier to clean if you have kids.

It has to be carpet for me in the bedroom. We did have wood flooring for a while but I didn’t like it. But when abroad I love tiled floors.
