Latest Deals App Updates!
Latest Deals
Hey all
Hope everyone is well.
We’ve just released an app update for Latest Deals, available on both Android and iOS.
There’s loads of improvements so please update your app and check them out! The update should filter through to your app store soon.
For those that like the nitty gritty and getting their geek on, here's a taste of some of the updates:
- Price comparison is now available via the app - just do a search and, alongside LD results, you’ll see price comparison results too!
- You can now customise how often you receive an LD Broadcast - you can opt into Daily and choose Morning, Afternoon and/or Evening or, if you prefer, choose to receive a broadcast once a week.
- You can now rate deals a bit faster. This behaviour now matches the website.
- We’ve improved the image upload system. You can now directly add images to deals and chat topics you share via the app. Sorry this one took so long to add!
- We’ve revamped your user profile. Go to your profile to see what you’ve liked, entered, shared and saved. This now matches the behaviour on the LD website.
- You can now see your LD badges on your user profile in the app. Who’s collected them all?!
- We’ve done the equivalent of a windows update, making sure we’re running the latest versions of all the little bits of software we utilise to make the app
- You can now see “This week’s top offers” at the top of the homepage of the app. This more closely mimics the LD website.
- A few styling changes you’ll notice around the app - e.g. more rounded borders (fancy!)
- We’ve improved (we think so anyway) the styling of the “Newest Posts” widget that appears after you’ve scrolled down the app homepage.
- We’ve completely overhauled the commenting system to be more efficient (and match the website’s recent update). This should mean you can get to your comments faster!
- Whilst updating all the boring logic for the commenting system we’ve also thrown in some quality of life improvements - a notice of who you’re replying to and an improved image upload experience
- We now keep track of the size of images shared in comments - this helps us reduce the “jankiness” that used to happen when you scrolled fast before an image had loaded (for anyone interested, the app didn’t know the height of the image about to load so the scroll bar jumped all over the place as multiple images of different heights loaded). Now we know the sizes, we can use appropriate placeholders
- We’ve improved the performance of the list view of deals. Hopefully this means you can scroll faster and more smoothly than before.
- Lots of other small bug fixes and improvements
I like it a lot! It's much easier to get to the last comment in the chat. Profile is easier to access and I like the greyed background on notifications - much clearer to see the ones dealt with. I'm still exploring but it definitely a noticeable improvement. Thank you.
Thanks for the update, looks good so far, not sure if it's just my phone but the freebie badge is not fully visible in my profile...
sunshinemum Hey You should be able to swipe across to see all the badges if they don't all fit on the screen
Kelsey I tried swiping across but nothing happens anyway it's just a small thing great job with the update
sunshinemum I agree that the seventh badge is barely visible and it can't be swiped.
Updates sound great. I don’t know if you accept suggestions but I’d love to see a button added to report comments. Debates and disagreements are fine but some go too far with name calling, foul language etc… It’s just deals, it’s not that serious that people should be getting so worked up.
I understand there’s a mute button but I feel removal of certain comments or in repeated situations, the person/member would be more suitable.
