How Latest Deals Saved Me £86.50 on Home Insurance
Money Saving
Last year Latest Deals launched a free home insurance comparison tool and I used it to get my home insurance.
One of the cheapest plans I could get is £242.77.
Home insurance automatically renews, and the policy emailed me to say it would go up to £318 this year (an increase of £76, or 31%!).
The email showing how my premiums would go up with auto-renewal.
Thankfully, the Latest Deals system automatically emails you beforehand to remind you to look for new quotes:
And if you use the system it remembers all your details from last time so you don't have to type it all out again. It took me about 3 minutes to get some new quotes:
The best of which was £86.50 cheaper than the renewal quote.
Now, what you'd want to do is use this quote to see if your existing provider can haggle down even cheaper. In my case, they couldn't beat it.
So if you haven't already, try using the Latest Deals insurance tools to save money every year.
Thanks Tom for this topic definitely will share with my family helpful we usually use other websites for compare prices
I always use the comparison sites on Topcashback . As well as the cheapest prices you also get £35 - £40 cashback . I see this uses "Quotezone", gives £26 cashback on Topcashback .
intherealworld Got to be careful though. Sometimes when you go through Quidco/TCB the quote is higher than if you buy direct. It happened to me a couple of times when looking for car insurance. Very naughty imo
TheChimp Very true I have noticed this in the past . Just done my Home insurance . I always try 2 or 3 comparison sites through TCB then go direct to the insurers site to double check . This year the best quotes through TCB were actually lower than from the insurer (Aviva) and £38 cashback to boot .
Only takes about 10 minutes per quote so probably the most profitable half hour you can spend . Saved over £100 in total on my renewal quote (which was the cheapest last year ) . Always deselect "Auto Renewal" when you purchase .
No good for me, reran the quote I have just done (took less than 10 mins ) . Only 37 quotes from Latest Deals Compare "Quotezone ". TCB/Confused gave me a choice of 79 . Amongst those missing from LatestDeals/Quotezone were the 4 cheapest (Aviva , Quote me Happy , Co op and ESure) .
For me TCB/Confused was £43 cheaper , if you include the £38 cashback £81 cheaper than Latest Deals/Quotezone . Although it did beat my renewal quote by about £20 .
Obviously everyone's insurance will be different , but my example shows the benefit of trying 3 or 4 comparison sites and factoring in cashback .
I feel like this might have been a better post from a normal user of the site as opposed to the founder. Not to be cynical I just feel users opinions are a bit less biased
DanielleMcK1992 I think the mistake many folk fall into is that Latest Deals is a "Deals site" . It is a voucher earning site /advertising site . I don't think the founders try to deny that . Sadly they have been forced that way by members posting poor deals for their points over a period of years .
To be fair Latest Deals are not shy about it . "Latest Deals have partnered with " means Latest Deals have been paid by *** to promote xxx's items (invariably poor ) . You will note that such adverts are often "refreshed " several times a week .
Within the compass of this post , Tom has made a big mistake in drawing attention to Latest Deals compare (Quotezone ) . It appears to be a poor comparison site (on the quotes I have done and explained ) and also you can get the same quotes with chunky cashback (£25 -£70 ) from TCB or Quidco ,
I have no qualms with Latest Deals taking so many "paid for " deals and subscriptions (most of which are poor ) they have to make ends meet to give members the points /vouchers they want . But at least be honest about it ?
The bottom line ? If members only posted good deals (rather than click and pasting anything off Amazon ,supermarkets and other retailers websites for points ) then the site could prosper without resorting to the ever increasing paid for advertising . Noticeable by the ever increasing Amazon Deal Hunter Bots . I'm sure I'm not the only member who has noticed ?
Why not rename them all "Amazon outlet " instead of trying to fool members into believing they are actually Latest Deals Hunters .
intherealworld You make some good points, it can certainly be very hard to find real deals here but they are here amongst all the non-deals and fake deals.
My home and contents insurance is typically about £120 a year and I normally get something like £30-40 back as cashback through Topcashback or Quidco. I think last year I might have gone through Quidco as there was a special cashback bonus of something like £10 to do so.
I'm not kidding but in the past I used to buy my home insurance and contents insurance separately so I could get cashback on both and for a couple years the cashback was more than the insurance itself, I actually made money on insuring my home. However soon they realised the issue and reduced the cashback for individual building and contents insurance.
