Lemsip Capsules or Drink ?
Ask a Question
I am currently getting over a cold, when I am not feeling well, I swear by Lemsip, but it has to be the drink. I think it's a throw back from being a kid, it makes me feel cared for, the capsules don't have the save effect. Plus it has to be the original flavour.
Do you have anything from your children that evokes a similar feeling ?
My mum used to buy Lucozade as a treat if I was poorly as a child but I can’t really stand the stuff
Pjran I agree, original Lucozade is yuck, for me it was warm milk with sugar, sometimes it had a skin on it but thinking about it makes me feel loved
It is probably the warmth of the drink and the paracetamol that is helping.
Paracetamol and warm squash will likely do the same thing (Not trying to say not to, if it works for you then great, but I'd hate for anyone reading this to feel pressured to buy branded products, when a cheaper alternative would likely do the same thing for most)
Lemsip Cold And Flu Lemon Sachets / Active Ingredients (per sachet): Paracetamol 650mg, Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 10mg, Also includes Aspartame, Lactose, Sodium and Sucrose, Total contents of Sachet 4.8g.
My dad used to make me hot lemon squash and add some honey to help soothe my throat and a sugar boost.
I'm also not well at the moment and can't taste much and nothing is making me feel hydrated. So I've mixed squash and diet lemonade, in what we called in our childhood - Blobbiade
DeBunny I am sure you are right, also I was shocked when my husband told me he paid £5.20 at Boots
I think it just a brand you are used to, growing up, but they used to cost a lot less & I wouldn't have paid that much, I would have gone for a cheaper version.
It's always the Lemsip drink with a little sugar or honey for me, I usually have a couple day when I feel a wee bit under the weather so that if it is a cold coming on, it never lasts longer than a day or so, I've never used the capsules, but as the lemsip is an acquired taste I get why some would use them.
Neither Lemsip Capsules or Drink. I have found both useless and a waste of money. I drink hot water mixed with honey and fresh lemons.
Has to be the lemsip drink I'm terrible at taking tablets and only the lemon flavour will do
I prefer the drink over the capsules, but I find just having a warm drink made with lemons, ginger and honey does the job too
It has to be the Lemsip drink for me as well. Just nice holding a warm mug and sipping it. So much more comforting than knocking back a tablet.
If you can get some, Nurofen cold and flu capsules are awesome. You may have to ask the pharmacist for them, though. Lempsip hot lemon drinks are good, but home-made lemon and honey with paracetamol on the side is also great. I still love Carvol capsules in my nightclothes.
EmmaWright762 is carvol the decongestant brown liquid capsules? I didn’t know they are still for sale. I buy boots own Vicks nowadays.
As a kid my mum always put honey on everything even though I didn't like it, worked as a kid but not as an adult, I haven't found anything as an adult that helps with a cold, I've just had that horrible flu bug, worst 20 days ever....
I make my own hot lemon with fresh lemons and swallow a couple of paracetmol.Just as effective and considerable cheaper..no saccharin either!
I would have make your own honey and lemon hot drink and save your money rather than buying lemsip.
My recipe is freshly squeezed lemon, honey, and a dash of brandy , it seems to work for me
The drink version, and now and again I squeeze a load of lemons, pop them in a mug of warm water and down that - it cleanses the soul!
None, I take Honey Lemon & Ginger firba cild if working if not working I add Whisky...I works for me & always has
