Lets Talk about Supermarket Loyalty Schemes....
Ask a Question
Do you have any Supermarket Loyalty Cards?
DO you find them worth it? I love getting money back from Asda Rewards.
I have tesco, Lidl and Asda. For me Lidl is the best. I get 10% off my shopping each month plus freebies through the month. Next best is Tesco. I find the Asda one is only good if you do your big shop there and if you buy certain things. You don't just get points for spending money, unlike the others. I still use the Asda one, but find it's not the best out of the 3 for me
I've got quite a few loyalty cards but my best one is probably Nectar, I seem to build up my points quite quickly and frequently get money off vouchers or extra point vouchers.
SamGoodship I tend to get my main bits and pieces from Aldi but pick up a lot of bits and Sainsbury's,.
I have many, many loyalty cards. I hardly use Asdas so was surprised I have £9.50 to spend. It is annoying the points will expire if not used.
I’m not big user of supermarket loyalty cards but I must say I love my Boots loyalty card. I save up my points and always use them to treat myself to a new bottle of perfume or if something else maybe takes my eye but usually I get an expensive bottle of perfume and feel so good that really it’s free cos I only buy what I need from Boots but their points add up pretty quickly
I only do small shops as live alone so it takes me a while to accumulate points in Tesco or Sainsbury’s or to trigger money off in Lidl. Although Last month I did like Lidl’s free bakery product with any purchase and Asda rewards had an offer which didn’t need a minimum spend to get money back.
My main one is Tesco - have over £120 at the moment, made good use of the double points recently. I do my main shop online every 5 days so they do add up quickly. Asda is just up the road so occasionally pop in for smaller shop - have £30 on that card just since Christmas so not to be sniffed at. Have most of the other main ones but dont build up that much on them. Boots was brilliant when our son was in nappies - made a few hundred pounds and managed some decent purchases with the advantage card points.
I do use loyalty schemes but I'm not very loyal at all constantly changing the supermarket I shop at to make use of discount vouchers etc. It's quite nice to go into Aldi and not worry about a loyalty scheme though. I think the only Aldi discount I have got is a small percentage through my Halifax account if I used my credit card or debit card there. Despite not having a loyalty scheme Aldi is financially the strongest supermarket with the lowest ratio of debt. Maybe some supermarkets lose track of how much they are giving back with loyalty schemes.
I think Asda is probably the best one by far, the others seem to be very slow to build up rewards whereas they seem to add up quickly with Asda
SamGoodship I shop all over the place - keep it flexible to keep the costs low. And I shop quite late in the day to sweep up the reductions
I have about 4 cards. I don't think the rewards are as good as they used to be with any of them to be honest
I’ve got tesco, Morrisons & lidl and do use them but it doesn’t make me shop in any of those shops over other ones that I don’t have loyalty cards with.
If anything it stops me from buying (especially at tesco) because if Ive left my card at home i’m loathed to pay the full price.
I've got Tesco and Boots, I use them the most and hardly visit other supermarkets. I've got a few quid built up on my Tesco clubcard and nearly a tenner on my boots advantage card app. I can't complain, I build my points up and save them for later on in the year towards shopping
I used Tesco clubcard mainly. Shame they reduced the points from triple to double upon using them. Beware when using for hotels.com/ as you have to pay the tax element separately. We ended up losing around £40 worth of points as we paid the stated price in points but then found that we had to pay that £40 in cash for the tax element on top. They don't tell you that and you can't claim the points back either.
I have Asda, nectar, coop and Lidl. I tried to download the Morrisons card the other day but they required my bank account details and don’t say why? This worried me so l didn’t bother.
Yes, I’ve got lots of loyalty cards, but I do tend to use my Boots and nectar card mostly. I try to save my points for Christmas, so that helps a lot with the shopping!
I got boots advantage card.
Morrisons more card.
Tesco clubcard.
Sainsbury's nectar card.
John Lewis card.
Waitrose card.
B&Q card.
IKEA.
As well as m&s.
And Iceland bonus card.
Nearly forgot superdrug health and beauty card.
And Lidl plus card.
They are worth it whenever you shop in any of these getting the cheapest while you earn on these.
That's 1 reason to shop in their stores.
I worked at Sainsbury's now retired, the schemes is good as the items you buy come up on the weekly bonus extra points and the products that have a NECTAR ticket gives people cheaper goods
Yes, wherever I do the majority of my shopping and that is in relatively close proximity.
Sainsbury's, Waitrose, Tesco, Asda in that order.... because Asda is a small store and doesn't have the things I need and tend to order online in bulk where possible.
I have the Lidl app... but it's a lidl too far away for me
i have been faithful to Sainsbury's for more than 40 years and always save my nectar points until i really need to use them.
but just lately my sister who doesn't normally shop at Sainsbury's has been sent £9 off £60 spend plus £7 9ff £50 spend..
should they not look after loyal customers first and give us some incentive to stay loyal.
even the nectar offers don't apply to what you normally purchase..
they really need to re think.
i absolutely love the boots loyalty card as you get more points per pound than other stores.
tmoore152 It doesn't pay to be loyal as loyal customers get very little. Start using other supermarkets for a while and you'll probably get some Sainsbury's vouchers. It's best to rotate where you shop in order to get vouchers sent to you which genuinely is the cheapest way to shop with the use of vouchers. On the weeks where I have no vouchers available that is when I buy smaller shops and ideally pay cash and Aldi is good for those shops as there is no loyalty card to indicate you have shopped there so no loss of loyalty discounts.
BonzoBanana I do shop at others but i am limited to my big shop as i don't drive and its the nearest to me.. maybe l should pay in cash and not use my nectar for a while..its so wrong how loyalty doesn't count though..
tmoore152 Get a second nectar card and have one month of using one nectar card and then switch to the other one and use a different payment card for each one or maybe always pay cash with one. Hopefully after a while they will start sending you some vouchers as they are worried about your lack of custom for a month.
I am registered to most supermarket loyalty schemes but tend to use whichever has the best offers for the items I need. I then buy in bulk and freeze fish and stock pile jars and tins.
