Could You Live without Internet?

Ask a Question

A close friend of mine has just had surprise twins at the age of 45 with 3 grown up children ! She has had to make massive cut backs including tv and internet. Her 12 year old has now asked to stay for the weekend so she can use the internet!! Could you live without it?

I guess everyone COULD live without it but I also guess we wouldn't like to. Even at my age i would miss it sorely but would have time to do all the other things I neglect and don't do when I am silver surfing. I get so annoyed with myself when I see my neglected garden, decorating that needs doing etc. I am disciplined enough to do the housework as I hate an untidy house but I should make the effort to cook for myself more often, rather than just snacking.

How is the water intake MumOfThree?

Iv managed quite a lot the last couple of days but hurt my shoulder so not sleeping well because of it so it's hard to tell if it's beneficial. I definitely have been feeling less hungry during the day so that's great!! I would really struggle without internet we stream tv so would be hard!

Nope couldn't live without it, Couldn't live without Google. We were talking about this at work the other day saying what did people do if they didnt know the answer to a question. I Google straight away to find the answer but how did people live with the frustration of not knowing the answer straight away before Google.

A lot of people had encyclopedias in their home. I always had lots of reference books. Anyone remember the observer's book of trees, or birds or wild flowers etc. We also went to the library a lot more or asked people we knew might know the answer and made conversation!

Lynibis my mum used to tell us to look stuff up in books and it was enjoyable! Defiantly a bit impatient now too prefer to know straight away!

I would miss the internet, I do most of shopping online these days. It can be a nuisance not knowing when items are likely to delivered But I’m sure I’ve saved a fair bit.

We did live without internet when I was younger, in fact remember it becoming available to the masses with dial internet in the mid to late nineties ( windows 95) . Now thou fast forward twenty years and I don't think I could go back to living without the internet, it's so useful and convenient for so many things, the same applies to Mobiles never had one as a kid , but now couldn't do without one.

I remember not having internet and then having dial up and having to disconnect when someone wanted to use the phone! Didn't bother me at all not having it but I think you don't miss what you never had !!

Don't see why not. There's banking that could require internet access but I could just visit a branch if I need.

I don't use Twitter, Facebook or Instagram so I try to avoid the drama from those websites.

Oh gosh your friend certainly has hands full.

In answer to your question NO I wouldn’t want to be without the internet. I do most of shopping online and love finding bargains and getting free cinema tickets. I also spend time on the iPad like now when I can’t sleep to while away the time.
