How Long Should Trainers Last?

Ask a Question

Last week I found a crack In the bottom of my trainers. Letting in water. I've only had them 5 months (from amazon) they really comfortable but now leaking thinking about complaining

Well I'm a heavy person who wears trainers almost all the time and walk a lot I think if they lasted 5 months that would be about the norm for me. I think the current Hitech trainers I'm wearing I've been wearing for perhaps 5 months and still going, they look like they have 2 or 3 months left in them. If I get a year out of trainers I've done well. I try to walk as much as possible and not use the car. I guess I walk perhaps 10-15 miles a week. I bought some trainers off Temu and I haven't started using them yet but I think if I get a month out of them I would have done well, their construction is on the weak side to say the least but then with all the vouchers etc they worked out at about £3-4 for the pair.

I had a pair of slip ons that are breaking after 5 months. If you use them daily they won't last

It depends how heavy on them you are. If you are using them everyday and walking or running loads then 5 months isn't bad. I've got trainers that are 6 or 7 years old, but I don't wear them that often which is why they have lasted.

I suggest you take some photos and send them to Amazon customer service. You didn’t say if they’re occasional 4 or 5 times wear or constant.

My trainers used to last me years. Maybe I am walking more and the quality is not as good. I recently purchased a couple of pairs of sketchers and they haven’t lasted, inside and out.

Imnotcheap I will check out the d’lites. Mine have gone inside at the shoes and soles go flat really quickly then become slippery as I found out at Gatwick airport. It was a great skid, a twist and a fall. One of my better performances.

If you bought from Amazon have a look to see if they are still guaranteed as they may well be

All depends on the amount of use they get and the type of terrain you’re walking on i guess.

I do wear out some of my trainers in about 4 months during the summer

Like everyone has mentioned it really depends how often you wear them. New balance lasts me a year or so, I've got some brooks running trainers and they are still holding out after loads of miles, I've also had some nice fred perry ones which have lasted me years, j guess it depends on the quality of the show, do you use weatherproof spray on yours? Were they meant to be water proof, all the different weather conditions can affect the wear and tear of trainers x

mudgesheila50 Do you ever wear them 😆 I had an old unworn pair of ECCO shoes and decided to wear them on a walk in the woods locally. The soles disintegrated on me and all I was left with were the tops and nothing underneath, I had left of trail of rubber along the track - very uncomfortable and we had to finish our walk early!

I would go back to Amazon as it doesn't seem as though they are fit for purpose. I had a pair of Sketchers for around 6 months and they became faulty so the shop exchanged them for another pair for me.

I asked my husband how long trainers should last. His reply the best ones 1000 miles 😂and he genuinely meant it. He’s a runner.

Pjran that's a brilliant answer. Personally I only run to get to concert and back to train station I probably average 6000-7000 steps a day

Depends how much you wear them and the quality - if they’re heavily worn, they can wear down in a month. But generally, I find a lot of my shoes are made more cheaply these days as they tend to crack by the soles and let water in

At least 6 months to 1 year, but that could also depend on the quality of the shoes/sneakers.
