Looking For A Job

Ask a Question

Hi, can anyone recommend what decent websites there are for applying for jobs? I've found myself looking for employment and don't know where to start

Indeed and find a job are pretty good

Just Google job agencies and sign up, go to local benefits office; they used to have a board displaying staff required, go to your local council website as they have a section of council vacancies.

Just do a search for jobs and you'll get for example Indeed, Total jobs, Reed etc and take a look around these, good luck.

There are sites like Indeed, LinkedIn, Total Jobs etc. If you do a Google search loads will come up. Also an idea to go into the job centre and look there. Job centre also has a website where you could apply for jobs. Look on your local council website too.

IIRC, last time you asked for help with dismissal and you didn't explain what was the reason, and now you are starting another chat about how to find a job. What was your previous position and why you were fired as it may affect your future employment.

SebK84 Hi, my previous job, and the reason I was dismissed isn't something I want to broadcast. It's humiliating enough having to deal with the embarrassment of being dismissed after 27 years without explaining myself. I reached out to others on here looking for advice, and thankfully, I received that. Now it's time to look for new employment, in case my appeal is unsuccessful

Indeed is a good one but there are all kind of websites if you have a specific industry in mind? If you dont feel comfortable writing that here I would advise you have a quick google search of industry specific websites 🙂

Indeed, Reed, Total Jobs, CV Library, Gumtree, Facebook, perhaps local sites unique to your area.

BonzoBanana Problem with some of the sites is that agents advertise fake, inexistent jobs, only to either build their database or they simply fishing for leads.

SebK84 I agree with you 100%. All the jobs I have done in the past were obtained through the Jobcentre, local newspapers, and word of mouth. All the recruitment agencies I registered with wanted information from me of the person by name or job title who to contact regarding recruitment. I always say don't know and never heard from any of them (agencies) again.
