Got to Love the Little Wins in Life When They Come, lol

I accumulated a £10 voucher to spend at Tesco from one of my gaming apps.
I'm on a very tight budget, so i always add up my shopping as I go around the supermarket, and I am usually within a 50p or so when it goes through till.
Yesterday however was my greatest achievement,........
Did my shop, my calculator says £9.87, I still have 13p to spend, I know it's only 13p but I hate losing voucher money, so I grabbed a banana, anticipating that it would take me over the £10, I go through the till, the cashier says.....that's £10 exactly, i couldn't believe it, £10 exactly!!!!!!! very geeky I know, but im still smiling about in now,lol
Anyone else as geeky as me??? Or is this just what happens when you reach "middle age"
M3l1ssA thankyou, the closest I've got previously is 5p either side of the target, so this was a personal best, lol
That’s good. Use the scan machines that you carry around, sorry I can’t think of the right name for them. These machines total your shopping as you go.
Pjran I've avoided them so far, as I'm really not great with gadgets, also I assumed they were for card payments only? Can I use them if paying cash or vouchers?
slightfoot yes you can still pay in cash using self scan thingy and rarely have to queue.
Yes this sort of thing has happened to me too, it's a bit spooky. I had a voucher for Asda before xmas for £50 and just mentally added up in my head as I went along and knew I was pretty close, I ended up paying £1 but when I got home realised the cashier had scanned a packet of biscuits twice - I only had 1 pack .
HEDGEHOGS wow that's really good for doing it in Ur head, I'm quite good at maths, but not so good at remembering, by the time I get item 3, I forget what the running total is, so fair play to u
slightfoot I didn't as too far away and didn't notice until I got home unfortunately.
HEDGEHOGS I did this once before, got some shopping in Devon, before getting the train back to Somerset, I did email Asda to say a was charged twice but couldn't go back, they sent me a email voucher for half the value as a "good will gesture"
slightfoot I guess that was better than nothing, always nice to have a goodwill gesture.
It's the 'little' wins like this that keep you sane! Without them it is all doom and gloom. Very pleased for you
tumblespots thankyou, I was soo pleased with myself, even the cashier congratulated me
JLouM I did wonder if it's a middle age thing, I wouldn't of cared less when I was in my twenties
Slight foot well done. I know tescos have scales in store, so you can weigh you vegetables and fruit
SaveMeSunday I just installed this. Did it take you a long time to earn enough to cash out?
snoogans888 I play games through a app called mist play, I've tried several but I found this one to be the best, I cash out £10 a week roughly
slightfoot I use Mistplay too but I only ever have 1-dot speed games so it takes me forever to cash out! I get about £10 every 2 months if I’m lucky!
SaveMeSunday oh that’s pretty good. Do you just play the free games to earn the gems?
snoogans888 maybe try updating or re-installing the app, I get l get loads of 5 dot speed game and alot of the time they are boosted to 8 dots
slightfoot omg I reinstalled and that worked a treat! I’ve now got some 5 dot games! Thanks so much

I personally use Swagbucks and love it, there is also TesterBuddy (iOS only) and MoneyCash (the Android version) which are often raved about in groups I'm in. Always check for a sign up code or referral though (but we aren't allowed to share them here) as they often give you and the person who's code it is a bonus of some kind.
have started splitting my shopping sometimes.,I calculate prices on my phone to a certain price, did this last Tuesday night in Tesco then did another lot & a third ..
It meant my shopping bill was £2.02, £5.04 & £5.06 so I got £1.98, £1.92 & £.1.88 back into my Savings Account from Double Round Ups ,so I got back £5.76 of my £12.12 Shop, the £.1.79 Bottle of Coke I fetched for my sister in this I gave her free!
#savvyshopper
julie781x ...I have explained this on here recently but in case you missed my message I will go through it again..
My Royal Bank Of Scotland Account pays Double Ups on anything I spend over £1 into my Savings Account..So if I spend £1.05 I get the 95p back into my Savings Account doubled, hence my earlier message about my Tesco shop...
By splitting my shopping & keeping the change over £1 low,I reap the rewards in my Savings Account..
Last year I accumulated £800, this was the first year I have done this but look at the outcome!
janphoenix51 this is very interesting, haven't come across it before, so will definitely be doing some research, thankyou for the info x
Julie781x..I have only just started splitting my shopping but been using Double Ups almost a year after it showed up on my Banking App,let's face it as the Tesco slogan says...Every little helps!
MelissaLee1 don't like them, the hubby ate it, he was more pleased with the banana than my triumph at the till
I am exactly the same. If I have a voucher to spend then I try to make sure that whatever I'm buying adds up to the voucher amount. I use the calculator on my phone, I know you can use the scan as you shop machines but I prefer not too.
MrsCraig I'm no good with scan thing either, always try for a staffed till where possible aswell
slightfoot ....Give me a staffed till every time, nearly every time a self service till was used my partner & I always ended up calling for a staff member!!
Not as geeky as that but I used to calculate in my head a rough estimate. We use the scan machines in store now so it adds up as you go along. Plus is up to date if the prices have changed on the shelves.
eyeballkerry I've so far shy away from those scanners as I'm not great with tech, can I use them if paying with vouchers?
slightfoot We shop at Waitrose and use the scanners and yes you can use vouchers at the end of the shop. Just have to make sure you do it the right way round. Probably best to ask for help the first time.
Sadly I consider a round pound cost when filling my car with fuel a win. Doesn't happen very often!
