I am totally disgusted by manufacturers and wholesalers who are constantly price hiking and using any excuse they think the public will swallow. Heinz especially have jumped on this bandwagon as every Heinz product I use has more than doubled in price and I don't for one minute believe the pathetic excuses. A war between two countries is being used as the reason for price hikes but are we not able to get products from all the other countries in the world. I don't seem to remember Ukraine and Russia being the sole suppliers of everything we use.

Petrol seems to have stabilised but has come down to nowhere near pre war prices and I expect it will remain at its current level permanently from now on, though I hope I am proved wrong.

I doubt very much that food prices will ever go down as they will come out with some other pathetic reason why they can't when the only reason is greed.

10% inflation.............more like 50%

I agree. The ones that suffer are working class families /low income families. It's not OK. It's making those that work hard for not great money end up in poverty

Jerseydrew yes and it also means people have to suffer a reduced standard of living or those on low incomes have no recourse but to strike which then means more inflation to compensate for higher wages.

I totally back junior doctors as it is disgusting that they earn so little after so much study and sacrifice, but have no sympathy at all for those unskilled workers who are on wages around £60k but are striking for more.

Same. I totally back our NHS and teachers. Way I see it is why should those that sit in banks earn big bucks when the real workers are those that work as Dr's, nurses, in education, supermarkets, hospitality farming. Bloody hard jobs

Lynibis I totally agree. It's not about the war anymore. It's simply greedy companies who only care about profits and shareholders.

I do love my lurpac but I do find norpac just as good. I think these prices are ridiculous for lots of things. Heinz sauce being one of them. Need a loan for a food shop.

Amylou88 where do you get norpac, is it real butter? As I was saying above Heinz are really taking the pee currently. Their soup has doubled, smallest mayo now £2.99 beans and spaghetti no longer a cheap alternative.

Norpak is Aldi I believe. Tesco do a butterpak version too which is just as good. After years of buying lurpak we've switched to Tescos version & it's just as good. Same with BBQ sauce, always bought heinz but discovered Tescos is just as good recently. Still on hunt for a alternative tomatoe sauce tho.

We only ever bought Lurpack but we changed to Norpack a few years ago and I can honestly say we've never missed Lurpack. The price is extortionate! I've noticed over the last year that Aldi have started stocking more branded items too. I bought a large Heinz ketchup last week for half the price it was in the big supermarkets.

Recently watched Eat Well For Less where they did a Taste Test for Brown Sauce...Guess which came out tops..

Only the CHEAPEST Brown Sauce!!

A lot of food is made in the same factory & we are just paying for the Brand names!!

Yup been saying that for years. I regularly get told it doesn't happen and the programs that show how food is made and taste test prove me right

This is the way to stop major brands increasing their prices, switch brands to cheaper alternatives , their sales will then plummet and someone in management might have the intelligence to realise why and adjust their prices accordingly

Don't forget it isn't just the prices they are increasing, it's the sizes they are reducing too

I buy Lurpak and get it delivered. Shoppers will stop buying it with security nets on! No self checkout then. It’s not a luxury item!

Pjran I can see food banks having to use G4S if the prices continue to increase 🫤

Pjran I agree - no butter is a luxury item. They sure want to make it appear as if it is 😏

Do u think there are companies who see something affected and use it an excuse to be able to hike and keep the prices unrealistically high to boost there profits?

I'd never buy Lurpak again I just don't think there is any benefit to the price premium and its environmentally and economically damaging to import such a product. There are much cheaper equally good alternatives. I do buy branded goods occasionally but they have to merit the price premium which personally I don't think Lurpak does at all.

I’ve got two 500g packs of Lurpak on my next home delivery. Do you think the van will have a police escort? 😂

Not in the Asda or Tesco branches I visited yesterday. The Lurpak butter was alongside the rest of butter brands in the chiller section.
