Magnetic Weight Loss Device That Locks Jaw Almost Shut

Ask a Question

When people are attempting to lose weight they will try almost anything, from going on a strict diet , changing the foods they eat , taking pills or undergoing bareatric surgery , which in itself is extreme

But the latest weight loss method seems to be some kind of medieval torture device

Its called the DentalSlim Diet Control , and in effect magnetically locks your teeth closed to within a few millimetres so you can only sip liquids and not eat solids

Personally i'm a bit long in the 'tooth' to be trying this, and i am not attracted to the idea , magnetically that is

Would you go this far to lose weight ?

Yup I need this. Only way I can stop myself from eating. Think work would love it if I was quiet as well

I wouldn't. I lost 3 stone after putting on lots of weight during pregnancy. I did it through diet and exercise. I didn't do an extreme diet, just cut down chocolate, crisps etc to once every week and had the diet version of them and ate smaller portions of my normal food. It worked for me. I couldn't cope on a liquid only diet for very long.

MrsCraig Well done at your weight loss. Also, your will power in being sensible towards food and exercise. I bet you saved a fortune in buying snacks.

jam45 thank you. I lost the weight slowly and sensibly and haven't put it back on. I still watch what I eat. The snacks certainly lasted a lot longer in the house.

No way could I have a contraption like that on my mouth. I would truly panic and think I couldn’t breathe. As Mrs Craig said, exercise and sensible diet is the way to lose weight. Plus you need to be in right frame of mine and motivated. This helps if someone else is losing weight with you.

No, I certainly wouldn't. How can you speak properly or brush your teeth, it would think you were trying to eat your toothbrush!

I have known two people to have the stomach op and initially lost loads of weight but it just gave them carte blanche to eat whatever they liked, albeit in smaller quantities. They both put weight back on (though not as much) as they weren't eating loads but were eating the wrong foods......chips, pizza, cakes, choc etc. In fact one of them died a year or two later but am not sure what the cause of death was, but had young children.

Lynibis I think a stomach reduction or the lesser gastric band are the extreme weight loss methods L, although this isn't far behind , but i suppose people have these things done through pure desperation when worrying about their health

That is a very extreme method but hey if people consent to doing it themselves then fair play to them. I lost a significant amount of weight myself but i never considered a gastric band or anything but don’t blame anyone if they do, the results can be amazing
