Mobile Phones in Workplaces and School?

Ask a Question

Should mobile phones be allowed in school and workplace

in this day and age phones are used from sending a message to buying holiday tickets, but should they be used in the workplace?

I believe they should not be used

Break times and home time only. They are definitely not needed in school lessons nor when a person is supposed to be attending to work. Urgent calls can and should be directed to the work landline or the manager.

MelissaLee1 I agree with you 100%, but hardly anyone including school children is going to take any notice of a ban.

Yeah I think there should be phones in school most kids walk home by themselves so I think it's good that they have them but should be off during school and as for the work place my other half works nights and he's not allowed his phone with him so it's in his locker but if anything was to happen here with me or the kids there is no way of me getting Intouch with him as the office is closed and there is no one to answer the phones in the night but all work places are different

I think phones should be allowed but during break times only, but saying that when I was at work and the internet or phone lines went down we could carry on as used own own personal phones to do the work needed.

I agree they probably should not be allowed, however it’s so hard to enforce that i can see why it isn’t strictly enforced. I feel sorry for any teacher that has to try to enforce the non mobile phone rule in school

Phones should be banned, period. My previous job my colleague was always playing games on It and that was during working hours. This job now, someone different but always on the thing. I said every time I see you you are glued to that darn thing. No answer. The worst thing ever Invented If you ask me. I hardly use mine at all.

Emerge11 I hope your manager notices your colleague and has a word to stop them.

Emerge11 that’s not setting a good example. Could the team all get their phones out 11am tomorrow and ring each other 😂

Emerge11 I wouldn't be able to help myself saying sarcastically: 'gosh it must be great getting paid to play games on your phone all day, wish I could get a job like that'.

In schools phones should be handed to the tutor or in the locker and it should be given back at the end of school time.

Regarding workplace, strict policies that phones only to be used in lunch time or if needed to use in urgent then discuss the matter with manager beforehand so they are aware of it.

I'm not an advocate of mobile phones so I would say that they are not necessary when people should either be working or getting an education.

Depends on what you do for a living. At my place of work you have to leave the building.its not policy but we've no signal inside cos we are in a valley and next to a dam for a reservoir

I think for work, using your phone during break time should be fine. Also for emergencies too.
