Money Saving Tips for Bulk Buying and Processing Your Own Food

Money Saving

I buy big lumps of things in the supermarket eg cheddar cheese, I grate it and put into zip lock bags in the freezer and this saves me at least £10 a month and it thaws so quickly when needed. Any other top tips for money saving on groceries?

for the spices that my wife uses we will often buy in bulk - 1KG packets from people on ebay, works out a lot cheaper than the usual spice jars like Schwartz which might look good on the shelf but work out very expensive. Only really saves if you regularly uses them but even 250g packets work out a lot cheaper than the jars.

didbygraham I hadn't thought of doing that, I buy the bags and as we do a lot of home cooking we get through them so buying online in bulk is an even better way to do it thank you 😁

A while back Iceland was selling a large reduced slab of cheddar and I did exactly the same. Grated using my tefal machine and froze it.
