Ask a Question

Should motorway speed be reduced or made higher? , would you say smart smart motorways, are better.

Motorway speed should be appropriate for the type of road, however it should be clearly signed to avoid accidents and opportunity for the highways department to unfairly collect revenue through fines. The fastest speeds of say 80mph are quite sufficient and I always have to laugh when some idiot in a flash car whizzes past, obviously breaking the speed limit only to be met by us as they wait at the next set of lights.

I think on most main motorway a speed of 80mph is not inappropriate for modern vehicles. Smart motorways work well until you get someone that has broken down and then they become incredible dangerous , think I would prefer to keep the hard shoulders on motorways to be honest.

I think the so called ‘smart’ motorways are the most dangerous roads in the modern age.
