Are Music Festivals Too Expensive?

I first went to Glastonbury in 1986, it was £15 and it was a 1000% Better than it is now, it's all gotten too commercialised, and has lost the true feelings of what this festival was all about, we are totally ripped off in this country, an example, slipknot concert tickets in America are $25, our tickets for Leeds this year cost £167 each, rip off

Yes they are far too expensive. I haven't been to a music festival in years and on that occassion the tickets were purchased by someone I was dating. Everything was far too expensive at the Venue too and the facilities were disgusting. The only positive note was that people could if they wished to, collect empty plastic beer glasses to earn a ticket for a free beer.

I think that £50 would be a reasonable amount to pay if you enjoy gong to this type of concert.I do wonder how young people can afford the outlay of £360.Do they have a job? Are they students?The money would be best spent on saving for a home of their own.

On terms of how much it costs to watch just one artist and their support act/s a festival unfortunately turns out to be better value.

Expensive or not that doesn't stop the teenagers and those that don't work from going

I have only been to one and I won a ticket for that. But I was looking at prices for my son to attend a local one and yes I believe they are well overpriced.

I think they are far too overpriced. I would rather spend that kind of money going away with my family than standing watching someone sing. I don't particularly like concerts and I don't like festivals. Even our local festival is expensive.

Not at all, there are so many bands you can see for that one outlay. We don't realise the costs of security, toilets, cleaners even before a note has been played. But not all festivals are equal.

I can remember over the last few years hearing about countless companies who've folded and had to cancel music festivals and other similar open air events. So I think that if someone can manage to have a good crack at it and make it a success, well good for them. I'd rather the people who have a passion for these things make money rather than scalpers.

Too expensive.

I personally wouldnt pay that much but many festivals have folded due to the cost of putting them on. Glastonbury is probably safe due to the sheer scale of it. It seems to be a sell out each year so people can clearly find the money if they want to.

It’s not just the amount for the ticket it’s the rip off charges for bottles of water and snacks.
