Nasas Space Telescope Discovers a New Planet Largely Made of Water
In the News
Science never fails to amaze me
In the search for another habitable planet that might sustain human life , the JWST telescope has found one 70 light years away where water spans the entire planet
My first thought was the post-apocalyptic action film 'Waterworld' starring Kevin Costner where we had the same situation
Then i read further into the article, the scientists are saying the surface temperature of the water could be upwards of 100 degrees [Celsius] or more and others say the planet temperature could be possibly 4,000C , too hot for liquid water
So i take it you would not be taking a thermal spa here
Sometime back there was a report of a water world planet somewhere of more moderate temperature. It should be pointed out if the earth increased in temperature to the point where no water was frozen it would increase by about 75metres in height around the world which would cover a lot more land. Also we got most of our water from the outer edges of the solar system where comets have come from and collided with earth that were mostly water and if there was some disturbance there perhaps a wandering large body like a planet that has been evicted from its own system it could bring more comets our way meaning we were fully covered in water like waterworld. We have a balance of two thirds water to one third land but I'm sure that isn't the norm in the cosmos there will be huge variations.
