New Year, New Me??

Other

Hi All,

So what are your New Year's resolutions? Mine is to budget better and save more money. Desperately want to move house and plug more money into the home businesses we both run, but it's difficult with two children!!

I want to be in Ireland to celebrate that big birthday I have in 2018. (My family come from Dublin and I have never been, so I want to see the house they lived in, etc). I hope to finally return to uni 19 years after I left! Basically the plans I had when I was 21, which all went horribly wrong, I hope to revive. Money is the key. To win a holiday and some competitions. So far Goodreads is really the only luck I have with competitions despite entering about 20 everyday.

Yes, I've started entering more competitions! Goodreads is hit and miss - in November I won 6 books one after the other, but then not won anything since.

Mine is to save more money and budget better. My current contract finishes in April, so I need to get another job but the plan is to save money in case it takes a while to get one! We also have other things to save for but that is the main one.

MrsCraig Once I know what my plans are with travel and hopefully higher education, then I'll know what to do about work in terms of hours and whether I continue working from home for myself or get a 'proper' job with set hours and pay. It's all up in the air until all brochures and uni prospectuses are here.

ShellyAnn Sounds like a good plan! My friend is getting a qualification whilst still working, she is only doing a higher (Secndary school level), so she is able to do it around work, but I reckon your degree would be more difficult to do! Your travel plans sound fantastic!

MrsCraig And a shock to the system. I haven't written any essays since I left uni! 😮

ShellyAnn I still write essays as I am a teacher and have to show them example essays, but still no where near the level of what I did at uni! I would definitely struggle to write a uni level essay!

MrsCraig I take comfort from my friend who got a 1st class degree BA last year. She hadn't done any school work since we did a levels and just smashed it out the park. I struggle to write complete sentences that make sense LOL! I'm practicing here at latest deals. 😂

ShellyAnn Haha, you should get her to help you write the essays!! I make the pupils use an essay structure to help plan, after that it is all about information, analysis and evaluation. From what I remember, uni essays are similar! Practising complete sentences is definitely a good place to start lol

I love posting deals/freebies on LatestDeals but think that from January 1st I'll put my account on hiatus and then return later. This is because I'll be going abroad and so I won't be able to post daily as I'd usually do and so on.

Anyway, hope 2018 is a great year for everyone. 🙂

I have a fitness goal (muscle ups), and then quite general stay healthy, save more money etc. On the flip side, I’m also hoping to enjoy myself a little bit more in 2018, perhaps a holiday or two 😊
