Nice Comment. No Like

Feedback

Hi Guys,

Sometimes I get very nice comments posted about deals I've posted, but I've noticed that quite often the person making the nice comment doesn't add their 'like'.

I also often accidentally fail to add a 'like' myself when commenting on a deal that I like.

If the deal description text is quite long (or there's a lot of images in the description), and/or when there are several comments, it can take quite a bit of scrolling to get back from the Comments Box to the 'like' button in order to click on it.

Might it be possible to add an extra 'like' button next to the Comments Box?

Also I get the feeling the 'Like', 'Comment' and 'Get Deal' button names are not intuitive enough.

Perhaps changing the button to read something like:

  • I like it / Add Like / + Like
  • Comment on it / Add Comment / + Comment
  • View it / View the deal

would be more user friendly and encourage more visitor interaction?

The two don’t necessarily go hand in hand. A like shows that the item is a good offer, and after a certain amount of likes, it will appear in ‘Popular’

Whereas, with a comment, someone may comment that it is a good deal, however, they may not rate it as highly as they would by liking it? I’m not sure you understand where I’m coming from, but yes, either they forget, or miss the button, or maybe they just don’t want to like it for whatever reason. I think it’s just one of them things....

Perhaps a like could automatically be ‘added’ when someone clicks to view the deal? Sometimes I see one of my deals / freebies being posted on the LD Facebook pages (sometimes by Tom etc and sometimes by someone who has just copied it from the LD page) and it gets loads of likes on there... but as you have to be logged into the LD page to register your ‘like’, not everyone who uses the FB pages are registered on the LD website and therefore the likes don’t go up on the LD site, only on the FB page - so even though it might be popular on FB, it doesn’t show the same on the LD site. I guess the other option is making it that you can only view the deals via the LD site if you are registered / logged in, which then might encourage people to like and comment on the site more (but would mean more points being earned and more £££ For LD to pay out!). When you find a good deal etc it’s nice to see the likes going up and encourages you to post more (well it does me anyway!) but when I see one of my deals getting loads of likes and comments on FB - especially without any credit being given to the OP - I kind of think I should have just posted it there in the first place!
