No Win No Fee - Have You Used This?

Ask a Question

Many people can't afford to take legal action when they are 'wronged'.

I am interested to know whether any of you have used a 'No Win No Fee' solicitor and if so were you pleased with the outcome?

Did they try and charge you something anyway?

Did you think it was a con?

It's a con, because if you win you have to pay big time, my mate had an accident at work, his compensation was £25,000, solicitors fees were £22,000 so he got £3000!!! That was a no win no fee scheme

martinlufc5637 That's disgusting, I thought they could only take a maximum of 25% of whatever you gained.

Leannexxx We have just approached a company and they actually want us to pay something up front and possibly go to a no win no fee later on which is why I wondered what other peoples experiences are. I think it is completely flawed and am disillusioned at the moment. 🥴

martinlufc5637 I thought they got their money from taking JUST a cut of the 'gain'.

tumblespots that's not good have a look for a different company no win no fee is that you don't have to pay anything

tumblespots Don't do that T, if they are asking for money up front then they are not confident they will win the case on no win no fee

They will tell you later they cannot take on the case and you will lose the 'up front' payment

telmel I am very suspicious but thought that they wouldn't take it on at all if they didn't believe you had 51% chance of winning?

martinlufc5637 This is shocking news. I had no idea of how it works - no win no fee. I only read about successful cases but no mention of the solicitors fees.

tumblespots That's true T, but the upfront payment is not a normal practice on a no win no fee

telmel I so suspect something a bit underhand and am going to approach a different company and see what they say.

jam45 I feel sure they will only promote themselves when not charging. It's just a shock to the system when you discover that there are charges involved. I always thought 'no win no fee' meant exactly that. The whole world has gone mad!

As with anything you really do need to be on your guard and double check everything before signing anything. As long as they are upfront on all the fees and how much they will take then its your decision to go with it or not. At then end of the day with anything legal the big winners will always be the solicitors
