Nurse Stole over £100,000 from Vulnerable Patients

A male nuse stole over £100,00 from vulnerable patients at Addensbrooke's Hospital (Cambridgeshire). One had Dementia, another Alzheimers whilst a third lacked mental capacity. He opened bank accounts in patients names and transferred money and used their credit cards. Some of the patients have since passed away and the 30yr old nurse has been given a 4.5yr sentence. With good behaviour it is common that prisoners are released after serving a third of their sentence (1.5yrs). Is this justice or an insult?
Definitely an insult E, they will never get the money back and 18 months inside all included accomodation and earning more than 100,000 is a good trade for this piece of scum, this will just encourage more chancers to do the same
All the assets of this person should be taken to pay back the money and pay for court costs, punishments need to be far more extreme for this type of scum. He should be in the fields with a ball and chain working from 8 til 5 per day. The soft approach to crime just creates more and more crime. People need to really fear/worry about committing crime and the punishment they may get. They can of course refuse to work in the fields but then they get extremely basic food; bread and water and they are sat in their cell with nothing to do.

As Support Workers in Supported Living Accommodation looking after people with Autism & Learning Disabilities my partner & I are often on shift alone at our different locations & would NEVER stoop so low..
I was alone today after the people I support went to a Day Centre, I just finished the chores, locked the door, put the key back & walked home...
BonzoBanana I bet the nurse's lawyer painted him as a pathetic first-time offender having difficulties or along that line. The judge is to be blamed for the pathetic sentence he dished out.

jam45 ....Yes I am but if something goes missing the team is under suspicion & even though I'm completely innocent I do tend to feel guilty...
It's disgusting , they will probably only do a year, our justice system is broken 
They should be made to pay back every penny plus the court fees. It is awful that someone can do this and only do a small portion of jail time.
Only 4.5yrs? What a joke.
He deserves to stay locked up for 20-30 or even 50 years.

MelissaLee1 That's exactly as I view it. Empathy and compassion is so important in life but not for the people who don't have any themselves and make the lives of others so miserable and destroy their lives. I worked for Age Concern in the past and met many wonderful people and many less wonderful people but the one thing that never crossed my mind was how to exploit them for my own benefit and try to con them into giving me money etc. Often the people were dealing with health issues and of course dementia and they had lost loved ones and many were not visited by their younger relatives they were left alone. My instincts were to make their lives as positive and enjoyable as possible. I think the most I got out of them was a free biscuit if I made them a cup of tea. I don't consider myself that nice either. I think there are people with more compassion and patience than me.
It is disgusting, i hope they have some way of clawing that money back. He should be made to pay a large % of his earnings to the victim’s families until the debt is paid
