Dealing with OCD: How Do You Handle Mess and Dirt?
Ask a Question
Anyone else stand stand mess and dirt?! Haha just a topic wanted to have a chat about!
Went to supermarket yesterday but it started raining so much had umbrella with me but trainers got so damn muddy so had to wipe them clean! and stuff some paper inside as they got wet too
I was really bad before I had my first daughter then I realised kids will always make a mess no matter what I do so I'm not to bad now one thing that I don't deal with tho dirty trainers
I don't have problems with a bit of dirt and dust but I'm a bit obsessive with words and numbers.I invariably do the same sum three times over even though I know that I probably got it right the first time!
MelissaLee1 is that so itβs just something that we do nothing wrong with that!
Iβm not that ocd but like things clean haha
MelissaLee1 Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Too many people don't give a jot about correct literacy and numeracy and checking and rechecking is the way to avoid mistakes.
O yes my favourite topic i love cleaning early morning right after my prayer I start my house work after finish my house work ,I take my morning Tea another thing I donβt like someone touch me if there hands wet,we donβt wear outside shoes in also we do have separate flip flops for garden aswell I try my best to keep clean my house but still every morning dust do appear so this is life keep going thanks for this topic
Queenofdeals786 Explain the wet hands thing please. My hubby had that as well!I used to tease him and say If I was a bond girl exiting water you would have less hesitation perhaps!
MelissaLee1 ohwet hands mean for example if Iβm sitting in the leaving room our kitchen right left side end of the room my hubby after having meal wash his hand in kitchen if he donβt wipe his hand he straight come in try to wipe with my scarf most our Asian mens do which make me irritate if he touch my face with wet hand I do shout with words eeeee your hands wet then he always rply look they dry
Queenofdeals786 I sometimes wouldn't dry my hands properly after washing them(but hey they are still clean) and my husband would say..."ooh you're all wet" but I don't quite understand why water should be quite so terrifying.Unless a person is aquaphobic of course. It's only water not acid or excrement after all! Anyone else got any ideas on this one?
MelissaLee1 If Iβm aquaphobic I shouldnβt use water I love washing that donβt bother me just donβt like someone touch me with there wet hands,I never came out from kitchen or bathroom without drying my hands I donβt know why
Queenofdeals786 haha thanks for your comments you are so kind
Yeah we donβt wear shoes inside house either we wear slippers
Tell me about it! Damn dusts everywhere ffs
Have to open windows for fresh air and after a few days if donβt wipe windowsill itβs so dirty lol
kitty88uk Aww thanks nice to read your donβt wear shoes in side too yes this dust is headache earlier I did wiped windows and blinds now free Iβll go in shower in a bit your take care itβs really nice to chat here have a lovely day all in this topic
Queenofdeals786 thanks for the chat haha hope you have a nice week ahead! Itβs a chore to clean house
MelissaLee1 Iβm the same hands still wet form washing them but they do dry quickly if I move them about haha air dry them lol
MelissaLee1 Lmao haha if Iβm wearing an apron while cooking then I wipe hands on that haha
I'm terrible with OCD, l trim the grass at the edges with scissors and sweep fallen leaves up daily, my wardrobe clothes are all colour coordinated, my underwear has to match, l cannot leave a used cup, plate etc in the sink ever, nothing is ever left on the drainer, tins & jars in height and labels all showing at the front in my cupboards, cushions are always plumped on sofa. When l go shopping I'm forever tidying the shelves..l dislike the way l am but l like everything neat and tidy always my home is like a show home rather than a lived in home
MelissaLee1 nope you wouldn't, l absolutely love a before and after.... when my sister use to visit me she would go through all my drawers and cupboards and turn everything upside down, mix and match my cushions in my lounge and bedroom, but it never bothered me because as soon as she had left it would be back to how she found it when she came within minutes
Pinkspirit I need a tidy up person lol.Seriously though I do have some order in my life but I can quite easily leave a few dishes unwashed for the day.My mum loves plumping up cushions as well.My book shelf is quite well ordered.
Pinkspirit omg even at shops you have to sort out the shelves too! Oh no not your job to do so.. lol
Yeah I canβt leave dirty dishes out for long like to wash them after eating
MelissaLee1 cute Belle gif!! Talking about bookcase I have too many books lol mines all tidied up have so many to read! I have to use wrapping paper to cover them cause my room is where the sun hits and have had some sun kissed which annoyed me so much!!
kitty88uk I always put them at the front of the shelf (move em forward)to stop the dust collecting there. What happens behind them is another story.
kitty88uk l usually tidy the shelves if l waiting for my friend is choosing her lunch but always at the checkout as l find it boring just standing there, l like to be doing something always
MelissaLee1 lol haha that means you take forever to actually leave the store? How long do you spend time in there?
kitty88uk I could put down roots in a book shop lol.I would happily camp down for the night.
Pinkspirit, there is nothing wrong with what you do to me. You are very well organised, not like me. I am messy
I only have ocd about my colouring books and colouring pencils. The books have to be in order and the pencil crayons in the right slot lol
suevernon1968 thatβs alright Iβm the same with books I have them in alphabetical order haha
My husband now does the housework. I always notice when thereβs a speck of dirt heβs missed, I know I should be thankful he does so much
martinlufc5637 oh is that so
I never had a problem when I was younger just now canβt stand less either but Iβm not that obsessed with cleaning
None of what any of you are describing is OCD. OCD is a horrific debilitating mental condition. It is not about being clean and tidy.
Jinky67 ,Yes my partner suffered really bad,had counselling for it, unless you have or know someone suffering you wouldn't understand..
janphoenix51 one of my online has it, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. It eventually broke up his marriage. He's been hospitalised I don't know how many times. Counselling for years.
Jerseydrew My neighbor's girlfriend or whatever she is cares a lot about cleanliness, yet they wear shoes inside their house. Kind of defeats the point.
PhilipMarc shoes come off when you come in. I've 3 mats yet oh and kids miss them all and leave foot prints every else
kitty88uk If you come home from your farm/ranch you definitely don't want your home with the mud or manure you've stepped on.
Besides, it's just cleaner to do so.
PhilipMarc lol thatβs so true! Ah well to each their own!.. itβs their house they can do whatever they want
What supermarket are you going to that you get your shoes covered in mud, you might want to change supermarket.
