Oddbox and the Like? What's the Point?

Ask a Question

I just don't understand companies like Oddbox who sell wonky veg for more than it would cost to buy normal veg from a supermarket. And you don't know what you are going to get, so if you don't like it, it's going to go in the bin anyway.

Saving food waste? I'm not having it.

I can't see this company lasting for long lbh.

Your thoughts?

Kitty10 It's a company that sends you duff fruit and veg at inflated prices saying that you are preventing food waste.

You do know what you're going to get, they tell you. You can also choose things for them not to send you.

It comes direct from the farmers, so they're getting a decent price for the stuff the supermarket rejects.

Supermarkets rip off farm producers for everything.

Besides, the quality is fantastic, better than most stuff I've bought in the supermarket.

Sadly they no longer deliver to my area, I'm hoping that changes in the future again.

When i was younger there seemed to be a lot more little farm shops on the side of the road - most with honesty boxes - its a shame that the way the world has changed has stopped a lot of this. That was fresh fruit, veg, eggs and sometimes flowers. I miss those.

I would be happy to try them out, but they dont deliver to our area yet. I am on the waiting list but who knows if they end up down here. Much prefer getting veg from the farm, we use Riverford and the quality is so much better than supermarkets.

A large box is £22.49! SERIOUSLY.

FOR MANKY VEG AND FRUIT!

I don't think that I've ever been so annoyed with a company taking people for mugs by saying that they are 'Saving the Planet'.

A massive con job.
