How Often Do You Clean Your Mobile Phone ?

Ask a Question

Mobile phones are glued to peoples hands, literally , in fact i would say they are one of the most prolifically used items we have

No matter where you go, be it the pub, nightclub, doctors , shopping or public transport etc, the majority of people are holding and using one

Some take it to the loo with them , either to not miss a call or just for entertainment

So it is fair to say that a mobile can be heaving with bacteria and germs

But how often do you clean it ?

The picture in the article shows how much dirt and grime there is on one when under a microscope, its pretty gross

I tend to wipe mine down with alcohol. not the drinking kind but what we use to keep our hands sterile, alcohol rub

I also give the laptop keyboard a quick going over at the same time, being careful not to drip any on the keys , so just a light going over

How often do you clean yours ?

Leannexxx that's answered my query then, it must be ok if you do it daily. I will do all mine later.

Leannexxx I think mild wet wipes are ok L, here's a warning off the internet about other ways to clean them

Some websites suggest creating a mix of alcohol and water yourself, but it's crucial to get the concentration right. Get it wrong and you could damage your phone. The safest bet is to use disinfectant wipes that contain 70% isopropyl alcohol to clean your phone screen. Drop the window cleaner and counter spray, now

Lynibis Just be careful what you use L , if you use alcohol make sure it is not too strong

I have a screen protector on mine so that helps to stop any damage from any strong solutions

I have always been worried about damaging the screen whether I use water, anti-bac, washing up liquid etc so have never really properly cleaned it. I once used an anti bac wipe on my kindle fire tablet but it left a smear across it so I am really unsure what to clean all my screens with.

Maybe folk on LD can advise?

I only clean my mobile if the screen looks cloudy. I tend to wipe it with the dishcloth.

Pjran Be careful P, there are more germs on a dishcloth than on a mobile screen

telmel not if you’re just about to use it with washing up soap. I remember reading the dirtiest thing in restaurants harbouring germs are cruet sets.

Pjran I just use a piece of kitchen roll with either liquid soap or alcohol rub on P, its personal preference

I use Dettol wipes to wipe over the outside quite regularly but don’t deep clean underneath the protector much so that’s probably got nasties in it. Probably should though. 😅

I don't think that is necessary J, if you try to lift the protector off the screen they can split , it happened to me when i had to change it for another, just cleaning the top is ok

I don't have to clean mine, the Mrs has OCD and cleans it for me, at least 20 times a day and she has a steriliser thing you put the phone in and it kills everything

My phones are always kept clean so nothing much. I do take photos and do downloads so that gets moved around and deleted.
