Do You Still Have Old Money Lying Around?
Other
Just found some old £10 notes stashed away, and I definitely still have a few old fivers and old pound coins dotted around the place
I think the oldest coins I have are half pennies, which I was given when I was very little before they got phased out
I have few the old big 5p's I think they are worth about £20 or less.... not sure but they are worth a little something
I also have to old big 10p's which are worth around the same.
I have a 1/2p which I think is worth about £50...
Am trying to se at the money if I can get them for cash but these coins I have are not worth 1oo's but it's abit of cash and I need some cash at moment
lol now that I think about it, I believe I have the old 5ps and 10ps, and perhaps the big old 10ps too - I will have to look out for their value
Old coinage i have is deliberate as I used to collect coins. I have a couple of farthings, threepenny bits, pre decimal pennies and sixpences, also florins and a half crown. I also have several crowns.
wow that's cool - have never come across a crown before. I have some foreign currency too, which I have as keepsakes
For a second I thought you were talking about UK going from GBP to EUR but that's not gonna happen.
But no, I don't.
lol it'll be interesting if that were to ever happen, but it doesn't look like we will - definitely a divorce on the way
I thought (and might be correct) it was meaning where coins or notes had been replaced and the old ones were no longer acceptable. If so; I occasionally come across the circular pound coins, I still need them (or a blank) because the locker mechanisms at the swimming pool I use havent been changed yet, so won't accept the new pound coins as a returnable deposit.
Any I have an excess of I just put in charity boxes - the charities can still pay them in at banks.
I discovered that 20cent euro pieces will work perfectly in the lockers - most of my friends are using them now. They also work in Aldi trolleys and probably some other supermarket trolleys too.
davidstockport yes, that was what I was referring to, but sometimes these chat threads do take you on a different journey lol!
hspexy I'm usually correct - I'll eventually convince those who think that cat is a badger that they're wrong
I take the old father in law to get his hair cut every few weeks (to the place he's always used by his choice, I might add) the place hasn't seen a lick of paint since the seventies by the look of it, and there's probably hair lingering about that is older than me, the decor is a joke, but the one thing that amused me was that they had almost every old note ever circulated, stuck to the wall apart from the white fiver and the 10 bob note.
