Gran claims to be world's oldest person at 119 thanks to daily breakfast habit www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/grandmother-claims-worlds-oldest-person-32271722
Well I do like a bowl of porridge on a cold morning , but I’m more of a cornflakes kinda girl so maybe I won’t make 119 years old . What’s your favourite breakfast and do you think it gives you the edge ?? X
Aenurse1 I've got emphysema stage 3, so living forever is not an option for me lol
She definitely looks 119 unless she is only 85 and porridge has prematurely aged her. I think there was a french woman who lived to something like 117 or more and she drank wine and smoked. I've noticed one or two people who have got to a ripe old age have a few vices. The one thing that seems common to these people who get to very old ages is they seem to be low height and small framed people typically. You never see anyone 6'4" getting to a very old age or someone with a big head and overall big build. They never seem to be people who have done sports a lot either, they may have been very active working and worked long hours but they haven't pushed themselves with great sporting fitness while younger. This doesn't surprise me as growing muscles is basically damaging your existing muscles and then the body replaces them with better muscles which means you are going through generations of muscle replacement faster.
Aenurse1 You may still reach a fantastic old age but perhaps won't reach 120 just like 99.9999% of the population. I think anyone who gets to 100 has done well. In some countries of Africa the average life expectancy of men I think was less than 50 years old possibly close to 40. Global warming may actually reduce life expectancy for many people, higher levels of starvation and poverty etc.
Men are on average 5 inches taller than women so a 5'11 woman would be the equivalent of a 6'4" man which is pretty tall. I think 6'2" is the tallest common height for men as that is my height and 6'3" is much rarer than 6'2" and 6'4" is much rarer again. So without looking into the details anymore I reckon 5'11" is a rare height for women.
I’m not sure with all my aches and pains plus poor mobility that I want to live until I’m 119. Care home fees are extortionate.
Porridge has been around for years, it's cheap quick and easy to cook and it fills u up. Plus oats etc are good for bowels etc. Most old remedies etc work, years ago mostly men went out to work, while women were housekeepers and looked after the children. Thankfully all that's changed, with laws voting etc. But thwn women had to learn to ration, cook for families in big numbers etc. So no doubt this woman has a few old wives tales to tell, which some people still believe in. There was no tablets/drugs/drinking for women then. No t v or late nights
Kids left school earlier and started work. So this woman probably was better off, considering all mentioned, so that's why she's lived to this. age.
Overnight jumbo porridge oats with seasonal fruit (like blueberries/kiwi) and seeds (like pumpkin/hemp seeds) - super nutritious so yes, gives me the edge
I do like porridge and if someone had it ready for me each morning then I would eat it more. My favourite cereal at the moment is granola.
I actually don't eat breakfast, may have a kiwi but will look at starting to eat porridge if i'll live longer lol.
