Am I the Only one..........

Who doesn't do social media? I was on fb once but found that I was forever going on it checking likes, messages, posts of interest but most just vile rubbish of people's anger, swearing or boring pics of their lunch/dinner. If someone of my age found it so addictive what hope is there for teens that we constantly moan about with their social media?
I refuse to sign back up (I spend too much time on here lol) but now find that so many of the comps are only on social media. Twice I have counted the website comps and there are currently 15, to 21 on fb or Twitter etc, on the current page of 36. Modern man will eventually lose the art of conversation, probably the power of speech, as we are all hooked up to machines that will do all communicating for us!
Once upon a time, I was addicted to Facebook (sad I know). But then I found LD and became addicted to that.
I still use Facebook sometimes but no where near as much as I used to. I do occasionally see a comp on Facebook which is worth entering, but very rarely. And even on the comp posts, people on FB still feel the need to tell their life stories as if anyone's going to be interested.
I have fb, twitter and instagram. I only really use twitter and insta to enter competitions. I use fb to keep in touch with family and friends and I use it to enter comps as well.
It is good if you can discipline yourself with anything addictive, you seem to have managed that MrsCraig. I am an old dinosaur and wouldn't know where to start with Twitter or instagram! I would love to be a blogger but don't have any idea how to start. So embarrassing!
I do have a facebook account but mainly because i have a business page and you need an account. I like you find people just lie on FB making out their life is so wonderful, what they are having to.....who cares!!! I also think its a way of getting attention from people.....hate it when someone posts "I have had a shocking day feel really sad" and then people comment with whats up chick??? and then they say " Oh i dont want to put it on FB i will message you" My answer is dont put a comment on there in the first place.......i do get frustrated. I tend to look at it for closed groups related to my business or the childrens sporting groups, football and swimming.
You seem to be a wise user and I so agree with you. I found all the hard luck stories came out especially when competitions were put up! They really seemed to think they could win based on how sad the story was.
I mainly use twitter for competitions, offers and film related stuff. It can be a good resource.
I spend far to long on Facebook
my bussines is on it and I find myself after replying to a message two hours later I am still scrolling through the site. I so want a break from it
You probably can't delete due to your business, but maybe you could set some sort of timer and when it goes off you go off facebook lol. I am constantly surprised how much time has gone by when I finally get off Latest Deals, can easily do 2 hours in one go.
I am on facebook to stay connected with my friend and family back home.. I also some small business by facebook with my sister so I can't get away with it.. however i separate my personal fb with my not too personal stuffs.. I keep a watchful eye to whom im adding and wanting to add me.. privacy matters still
I'd love to keep off Facebook, I find it an entirely depressing place. Unfortunately my kids' schools are active on their facebook pages (but not on their actual websites) and my kids'c lubs also run all their dates/activities from fb. Sometimes I'll deactivate my account for a bit but then we inevitably miss out on news/events so it's a pain really. Probably most of the comps I enter are on fb or twitter also.
