Ottoman Storage?
Ask a Question
Does anyone like to buy ottomans to store items?
I got a small pink square one on sale think 2 years ago at £5! From Wilko
The damn thing was so heavy to carry around while I was walking in town back to the car !! Arms were so sore the next day!
I’ve put some items in it like handbags and cushions
Thinking to buy another one but they are pricey and read reviews on Amazon that they get damaged when they arrive.
Did think to buy those storage bags but the two current ones I’m using for years now are starting to tear apart when I tried to move them to clean my room
martinlufc5637 how big is the size of the ottoman and how much? The square I have I put a lot of things in it but the smell of the fabric gets on everything lol
kitty88uk it's 4 foot long, not sure how much, we've had it a while, wouldn't have been more than £150
martinlufc5637 wow that sounds quite a big size one! And omg they costs that much?! Thanks for letting me know
Used to have an ottoman in the hall of our flat but it never made it to our house as no room for it. We have a bed with 4 drawers under it, where I store all the bedding and towels. A good solid ottoman will cost you a fair bit of money. Our one was wooden and was big. Bought it about 14 years ago and it was £120 then.
I use an old boarding school trunk rather than an ottaman an the bottom of my bed. I use it in the traditional way to store extra blankets and covers in. If an ottoman is heavy then perhaps it's to deter it being used in other ways such as something to stand on or a foot stall.
EmmaWright762 I see great use of the trunk! I have been with two drawers to store some clothes, bedding and towels lol I don’t use the square ottoman other than for storage or other items
MelissaLee1 I see, I have 3 plastic boxes used to store books and decorative items lol but having storage boxes makes my room look bad in it down way too lol
MelissaLee1 Me too, but it's in my living room and the top surface doubles up as a somewhere to keep the wifi equipment on and a few nik naks who knew, trunks are the new ottaman.
I’ve got a double and a single, both from Amazon, and though they have been a good way to store things, they did start breaking down quickly. I’ve just reinforced them to last longer, but I think they’ve had their day (have had both for years)
hspexy oh really they don’t last long?! How they break? I did think to use vouchers to buy from Amazon, how much are the and are you able to share photos?
The one o got from Wilko been I think two years now and no problems
You are not supposed to put too many things inside it or put anything heavy on top
kitty88uk they started to split from the sides on the lid, and then the board came down, exposing the nails. It started warping not long after I got them, but I guess I’ve tested them to the max - the description said I could lhokd a load if 120kg, and no way have i gotten close to it, but I do have a lot of tatt inside
Not got one at the moment but they can be really useful. Had them in the past. Loved them. Just don't need one currently
I like the traditional ottoman that sit at the end of the bed and have always wanted one but felt it was a want rather than a need. I would use it for storing my bed linen.
I also got one from Wilko years ago, but long rather than square. Looks like they still do them online, from £19.99 www.wilko.com/en-uk/navy-cross-stitch-storage-trunk/p/8047622
Square ones are available too
sulawesi yeah back when the shop in town was still there when I got the pink square one reduced to £5 there was a long one too in same colour but last one but opened and it was all dirty so got the smaller one
I have vouchers probably buy from Amazon but someone else said they got from there and they are breaking lasted about a year
I have an ottoman bed which is the best thing i have ever bought - its like a tardis with the amount i can fit in it. Spare duvets and pillows, shoes/sandals depending on the season, spare throws etc erc.
suevernon1968 is that where the top half of the bed lifts upwards and there’s a huge space where you place all sorts and then you pull the bed down again? How much are they?
kitty88uk they vary in in price i was incredibly lucky and found mine in a sale for £300 but ive got a second hand one off facebook for £100
suevernon1968 I see they are expensive!! but it’s still good in sales oh wow that’s great for £100 second hand, so it was not damaged?
We have a couple of small ones and also changing what we store in them. I use one once for a wash bin. Then I stored my pet food in one.
eyeballkerry oh lol a wash bin haha great way to use it I guess lol so far in storing bags and cushions in mine already full and on top I have piles of clothes on top of it using it like a table lol
They are a good storage item for winter/ summer quilts and bedding have one at the bottom of the bed had it for about ten years now.
momhobnob666 oh wow that long! Those ones are big in size! And yes great for storing bedding. Those foldable fabric ones I got a square one from Wilko reduced at £5 first used it to store items but the smell isn’t nice gets on everything lol
ClaireBrowett I see must be a big size one if it’s placed at the end of bed how much is it and is it wooden or a fabric ottoman?
