Passenger Breaks the Wheels off His Case to Avoid Ryanair Charge

In the News

What do you do when Ryanair wants to charge you £60 extra for your oversized hand luggage ?

You rip the wheels off , of course

That's what this passenger decided to do to the cheers of the crowd and it was all caught on camera as he 'rocked' the cradle

I suppose you have to balance up the price you paid for the bag against the extra charge , i doubt you would do this if it was a designer case

I wonder if he will put a claim in for luggage damage against ryanair, he would have to be off his trolley to do that

You could say its going swimmingly now the wheels came off 😀

MelissaLee1 It's not really they do it to fork more money out of people.

When I flew to the U.K. something similar happened to me as I had to shove the bag in the luggage space compartment or pay up €50, luckily it did fit.

However, the next woman wasn't able so she had to pay.

PhilipMarc I always take a soft bag P, you can squeeze it in the frame but you can't with a hard case

I flew via Wizz and had to shove my bag in that luggage space they have or I'd have to pay a ridiculous €50.

Yet people like this don't pay any extra for their weight and can even take someone else's space when they should buy two seats 🤬

That needs to change because it's unacceptable.

PhilipMarc When you look at it that way P you realise it's just a money making excercise

I've heard so many bad reports about Ryanair. Good on that man breaking the wheels off from his case.

I always use a backpack for hand luggage , his case was clearly too big for hand luggage

martinlufc5637 Even if we think our luggage is small, they demand it to be even smaller.

Excellent, someone give this man a medal for standing up to those money grabbing air stewards lol. Great to see initiative winning the day. I hope this is turned into a media post and that it goes viral to show up Ryanair for being so money grabbing.

Good luck to him. Yes, it probably worked out cheaper for him to do that. I have also noticed on new luggage that has a guarantee, if does not cover wear and tear at the airport. That’s the only time it gets ruined.

telmel You were very lucky to get a replacement. Ryanair completely wreak one of our bags. They offered a replacement at the airport. Someone’s else’s case that had been left and never collected. We turned that down and said we would claim when we got home. Ryanair never paid out.

eyeballkerry I am sure it wasn't ryanair E , it could have been easyjet, but it was a long time ago

telmel We will never travel Ryanair again and we tend to avoid Easyjet. Our last flight was with British Airways to Portugal, last month, with only 14 of us on the flight. Best flight in a long time.

I remember reading about someone’s luggage weighed too much and would be charged extra. He opened the suitcase and put several things on 😂

I’d have been cheering him on as well, ryanair make it so difficult to understand and just try to make money out of everything.

jms19 I have been told by at least three people who booked with Ryanair in the past that it is not worth the hassle to get a "cheap flight" with them.

Assuming he flew to Palma with Ryanair how did he get the case on as hand luggage in Malaga?
