Passengers Left in Limbo as EasyJet Pilot Cancels Flight Due to Smelly Plane
In the News
This Easyjet pilot kicked up a 'stink' when he cancelled the flight from Birmingham to Geneva minutes from takeoff due to a strange smell
It was strange because only he could smell it
Maybe it was someones sweaty socks, body odour or someone had just eaten a chicken vindaloo and decided to use the toilet facilities, who knows ?
But he wasn't taking any chances and refused to fly
It caused great distress for the passengers who had to wait 5 hours for news of what was happening before being sent to a hotel
Maybe they should rename the airline 'queasyjet' with having such a nauseous pilot

Our friends just flew out on easyjet. We tracked the plane until it got there (Yes, I know, I lead a sad life!) Thankfully they got there on time, perhaps they are cleaner than the passengers on this plane!
I love queasyjet!
tumblespots I don’t think it is sad to track a plane. My daughter always tracks us when we are away even on a two week cruise. Plus my neighbour does it as well, sounds weird but it’s not.
eyeballkerry It's fine E, not like trackingf someones phone which would be classed as stalking
telmel As a family we all have the tracking app which i call stalk my friend. But whoever is on it agrees to be tracked.
eyeballkerry It's fine if you are using it consensually E, like between friends or even to keep family safe , it just can get weird if someone does it without your knowledge, i have probably been watching too many movies where this happens
telmel I believe we are all watched somehow. We have an Alexa and I’m sure that picks up conversations. Its just weird when we have been talking about something and then it pops up somewhere on my iPad.
eyeballkerry Yes i have noticed that too E, i was talking about buying something the other day while on the laptop, the next minute i got an e mail and some adverts flashing up on it
There are definitely people or companies listening in on smart objects like Alexa , laptops and Tvs
eyeballkerry I recently found out my mate had been tracking my phone, when he told he knew I was at the Leeds match I was furious, why did he need to know where I was , he said a bit of fun, I've changed my personal phone &
number because of it, and he's no longer a mate
martinlufc5637 I’m not sure how your friend was able to track you without you giving permission. But I can understand you not being with the situation.
eyeballkerry it's an app, you add the phone number and it tracks the phone, I think it's only available for the iPhone
martinlufc5637 I have ’find my‘ app on my iPhone but need permission from the person I am tracking.
I don't expect he would have done it lightly if he suspected a safety issue. Mind you, he might have smelled his own breath still tinged with alcohol from night before! It is scarey the amount of people like pilots, surgeons etc drink when your life is in their hands.
Lynibis Thats very true L, i have read a few stories about drunken pilots especially in the US , here is one example
I think the pilot was very justified in taking that action. While the passengers might have been very disgruntled they might have had more to complain about if something had happened on the flight or the smell had gotten worse and they were all stuck with it
