Pay Later On The Food Shop - Have You Used Klarna?

Other

I'm not sure if anyone else is like me and loves apps like Klarna. I find it great for bigger purchases I can't necessarily pay all in one go but can when split into three payments.

The supermarkets have recently started accepting this payment method which I think is so useful. The last week before pay day can be tight for a lot of us. I think its great you can now get your food shop and just pay on/after pay day!

Although you do need to be careful on these apps and make sure you only spend what you can afford a month!

This is definitely a no no if you can afford food stop using klarna on other stuff not needed.

Ann1984 its a great thing when unexpected things pop up. I agree its definitely not something that should be relied on but sometimes things happen. People lose jobs etc so I think its great they are now added shops that stock essentials like food that would actually need

One thing my father taught me was if you can’t pay for it you can’t afford it credit is dangerous and handed out far to easily

I don't like things like Klarna. I understand people saying it can be useful, for example if your cooker unexpectedly breaks and you can't afford to pay it outright but I do think that it forces people into more debt, as it allows people to buy things they can't afford otherwise. I don't mean essentials like food, but things that are considered luxuries.

We don't have a credit card or any form of loans, other than our mortgage. We save every month so that if we get an unexpected bill we can afford to pay it. I know that isn't possible for everyone and that credit is great sometimes but I just think the interest they charge is far too high, which is what puts people further into debt.

I like the klarna app and clearpay,I stick to a strict budget and not exceed, those apps are very useful,...if you wish to pay monthly or 2 weekly. They are constantly updated,I had to cancel an order and the account got updated swiftly,I have had no problems x

I have used Klarna, to spread the payments over 3 months with no problem. Plus I had a refund as the item I ordered wasnt in stock, which was painless. But like you say you have to be careful as I think it's aimed at younger people who may be tempted to over extend.

beccatavender I find Klarna much better than the other apps. Clearpay have given me a £600 limit which I haven't touched wheres with Klarna they don't give you a limit, they make a decision on every purchase you try to place instead.

I'm a big fan of Zilch, you can literally use it to buy anything, I mostly buy takeaways 😂

I have a terrible relationship with credit but I have Zilch, Laybuy and Clearpay. I hardly ever use Laybuy or Clearpay but using Zilch regularly has improved my credit score

I haven't used Klarna (or any equivalent company). I really wouldn't want to use it for food purchases. I would rather purchase fewer or cheaper items if I was struggling. Having to make interest payment just leaves you with less money in the coming months.

Never used ,and don't think I will.I am not buying what I can't afford. I know for someone it could be a good help, but needs to be very careful as it may get you in a debts as well.

Buy now pay over 3 months for food 🙄!! Whatever will they think of next 🤔 Still I suppose it means you can still buy your booze ,fags , drugs etc as well as food . Great until the payments are due a few weeks down the line 😣.

Golfforall I wouldn't have thought many people would actually spread it over the 3 months. When my partner was going through cancer treatment we were always skint by the last week before my pay. We managed with cheaper meals but for people who have nothing that week it could be a great life line to pay off the next week when your wages are in I thought

For me it's a no go, things like this were the reason I got in to a financial mess when I was younger, if I can't afford it I don't tend to get it now. I do have a rewards credit card that j use for most purchases but it's paid off before the bill arrives (normally when I get home) only use it because of rewards and extra cover on things. Credit can be a dangerous game but appreciate if used wisely it could be a good thing.

I haven't used Klarna or anything similar. I do understand why some people find things like this useful, and as long as people are sensible about using them it shouldn't lead to problems. But it's probably not something I would use. I only spend what I have, and would prefer to cut back and make changes to my spending if I was struggling, rather than using a service like this or a credit card.

It can be a good thing, however you have to be money savy.

I had the same thing installed in me as a kid, (like mick82) If you cant afford it dont buy it.

I have used klarna on a few occassion, out of conveienece really. Would i use it for food shopping? Hell No.

I’m not sure I’d use it for a food shop, but however , I use it for kids birthdays/christmas - over the 3 payments normally monthly.

i use klarna all the time when i am ordering from a catalogue. it saves having to get a refund when i invariably have to send items back.

Thin end of the wedge. I appreciate some people are poverty stricken but if you can't afford something wait until you can. I know it isn't true of everyone who pleads poverty but I get sick of people who whine about having no money but are puffing away, drinking alcohol, buying takeaways, designer clothes, latest phones etc. Mismanagement of money is a choice a lot of the time.

Really like Klarna but only used for clothing and home items where I have ordered for choice knowing I will return part order - this means I won't have to pay all upfront and I always return items as soon as I try them on so it works for me.

People need to be careful with Credit Cards and BNPL schemes (kind of sounds like fraud calling it "scheme") because if they can't afford it, they'll be penalized and then it keeps burying them in debt.

Only buy what you can afford and spend your money wisely. You don't need Dave Ramsey or Martin Lewis to tell you that.

I have used Klarna on just two separate occasions many months apart due to necessity rather than choice. The app does serve a certain purpose when required.

Seen the option come up a lot more often recently, I think it’s a good idea like you said things can get a bit tricky days before payday
