You See a Penny on the floor...do You Pick It Up?
Other
I find that not many people will bend over for a penny these days...perhaps for 10p or 20p, but not for the pennies
Hspexy there's a saying pick up penny and all day you will have good luck. I think I've got it right. My grandad use to say it when he find a penny.
ah yes, it’s a saying I remember hearing as a kid, but not as much these days. Your grandad was a wise man
hspexy i recall it as, see a penny, pick it up, all the day you'll have good luck. I still say it to my grandson now and the other one which goes: look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves.
I’d like to think that even if it’s only a penny, it’s more than I had before I picked it up - that’s some kind of ‘luck’ or fortune in itself
Find a penny, pick it up. All day long, you'll have good luck...I believe that is the saying...and apparently, if it is tails side up, you should flip it over for the next person to pick up. If one side brings luck, the other is bad... tails being the bad side!
I have heard of the saying, but I didn't know about the heads and tails part of it - cheers for that
I hope I am not alone in saying that I do pick up lost coins when I spot them. I also pick up the odd paper notes when they cross my path too. Reminds me of a time when I was travelling via Stratford station in London and I saw the Queen's face shining up at me from the platform. She was in a bit of a sorry state and when I unwrapped her she revealed herself as a cheeky £10 note.
lol you are definitely not alone! I wish I found more money on the street, but I think other people get to it before I do, so I am not as lucky
I once found a penny, I picked it up since if you find 100 pennies over the course of a month it adds up.
The following week I found a £50 bank note in a public loo so perhaps the last person to use it somehow dropped it.
Wow that’s good luck indeed! How often would one find a £50 note, let alone in the public loos? Hope you got something good with it
