Phone Charging Cables and Earphones
Other
Has anyone else noticed that they don’t last long especially the charging cables? I recently went to Sainsbury’s to sort out a Juice cable which just keeps going on and off when plugged in to charge. With any slightest movements it stops charging!! it was still under 1 year warranty
Now with this new one it hasn’t even been half a year yet and it’s starting to do the same but not as much as the cable I had before. I’ve checked there are no damages to the cable.
My earphones again no damages to the cables but at times the left side has so sound!
Kind of annoying having to buy new ones for the same problem to happen!
It’s a good thing to have spares as I have an extra pair of earphones.
As for the charging cables I’ve seen you can get 3 in a pack but have never bought from Amazon, reviews says they are good some people said they don’t even last for long, not even 3 months!
I’d buy them when there’s price offers! Like the Juice brand one reduced down to £9.99 but I paid using gift card that I earned through doing a survey.
Can’t believe the prices for one damn cable or the earphones!! You can buy so many food items for their prices! It’s damn ridiculous!!
Chargers and earphones I have no issues with now my oldest and her dad are a nightmare with them they always break them 4 pairs my oldest has gone through within a week I've stopped buying the expensive ones
I have only used apple chargers, cables and AirPods so I have never had an issue. Obviously cost more but never had to replace.
eyeballkerry same here only had to get a new phone cable cause the original one was coming apart and could see the wires inside! Ans didn’t charge phone anymore!
Charging cables are sub £2 on Aliexpress or sometimes less and most last quite a long time for me. However I do get through a lot of headphones but I personally don't find expensive headphones any better than cheap headphones with regards intermittant connections. In the summer I'm wearing headphones a lot and they get pulled about a bit and often eventually one side will fail but I've had this with cheap £1 headphones and also higher end Sennheiser, Grado and Beyer Dynamic headphones etc. A the end of the day its just a bit of cable solderered to a connector with a bit of glue around it and will fail eventually. I've got some sennheiser headphones that have been bodged repaired about 5 times, they look pretty rough to say the least and probably about 20 years old. I probably have about 5 pairs of good headphones that I've put aside to repair and never got around to. Same as wireless keyboards which have failed but I want to repair them as they have trackballs or trackpads and there is nothing new available to match them so I want to repair them.
BonzoBanana I got some of Amazon and they are fantastic they were £4.99 on sale honestly can't fault them
BonzoBanana branded or not cables don’t last forever! Depends on how much you want to spend on them. It’s good that you can repair them yourself!
www.amazon.co.uk/stores/Home/page/0AD1814F-5FC2-4721-B6BE-7ED4299C4D15?ref_=ast_bln that's what we have I've had mine for about 5 months other half had he's longer he uses them none stop
I recommend the Ikea charger cables, I find they are really good quality (I’ve had some about a year or more now and they’re just the same as they were when I bought them). They’re about £4 per charging cable. I also love the Anker ones, they often have offers on too so I think I paid around £10 for a cable which had free delivery too, the cable is long and sturdy and seems great (only had a few months, so far it’s brilliant).
I only use apple chargers, no issues. My dad had issues with his phone / still apple but think because of the connection inside his phone from putting in pocket. Make sure it’s clear inside no fluff .
I have quite a few cables all of good quality and purchased on Amazon when they were on offer. Had no problems with any of them. The ones that came with the phones (when they used to!) never lasted that well though. (Android / Pixel user). Headphones were one of the things I did get issues with though and have gone through several sets, but the ear buds I got on a Prime day are brilliant and I have had no issues at all - (but at that price I would hope so too!)
didbygraham is that so, which ones are good quality that you can name? Yeah I always buy items on offer! Oh ear buds how much were they?
martinlufc5637 can you say which branded one? So I won’t buy them lol
It’s annoying as non of them last long, I’m using the Juice brand one, just recently got it replaced as still under 1 year warranty at Sainsbury’s as it’s acting up! Not even been half a year yet can’t remember the date that got this one, have to look at receipt that too says has 1 year warranty
kitty88uk any that state fast charge on Amazon, they are not fast charging at all
martinlufc5637 lol false statement! Okay won’t be buying them then! Haha thanks for letting me know! It’s annoying can’t find a decent charging cable right?!
kitty88uk if you use a fast charging cable and your phone is not fast charge compatible, it will destroy your battery, my phone charges from 0-100% in 5 mins, love it....
martinlufc5637 Yes it is compatible cause the package states the charging cable works with which phone models, mines iPhone 6s Plus lol and it says it’s fast charging cable but takes a while to charge
For now phone still works but do plan to get new one just not yet
What’s yours? Wow charges in 5 mins!! Is the cable a branded one?
kitty88uk cable and plug is the one that came with the phone, 150watt fast charging, it's a Motorola edge pro 40
The Anker and braided AliExpress charging cables (60w) are really good in my experience, but the included cables with electrical items tend to be pretty crappy.
I mean, they work, but they're not great.
PhilipMarc yeah no idea which ones a good I mean nothing lasts forever lol
Lost count how many charging cables I’ve used, I did try out a braided one, those fabric material kind. A friend gave it to me for free a few years ago
My phone is old iPhone 6s Plus what’s your phone model?
kitty88uk At home, I use a Pixel 7a like a tablet of sorts while on the go it's a Samsung Galaxy A40 with only the basic apps and nothing else.
If I'd lose or got robbed of my Pixel 7a and it was unlocked, I'd be extremely p*ssed off.
kitty88uk Here's an example of a cable I bought:
That's actually really good and reliable, but as for the watts part don't bother too much with that. If your device isn't capable then it won't give those speeds nor if the charger is below it.
PhilipMarc that is a fantastic price I haven't bought anything from that website definitely going to check it out thanks
PhilipMarc oh is that so, how much are each of them? Yeah I’d be so angry too! I have everything on phone lol
PhilipMarc thanks for sharing this! Can’t believe the price for it and free shipping! So cheap! How long do they last for?
Ah the type c to c isn’t for my phone
But will be helpful for others
kitty88uk They have Lighting Port to USB-C as well.
I once had an iPhone (a 3GS model), but didn't like it. After I tried Android I stuck with it.
PhilipMarc that is a very great price! Ah not bad with delivery don’t have to wait long. How long do the cables can they last for? How long can they work to charge phones and do they have a 1 year warranty?
PhilipMarc yes I would have thought so too, just that I didn’t search for it lol
Whoa 3GS model is so very old phone lol
I had Samsung Galaxy as first phone one before that was Song Ericsson lol
Your phone is at a very good price! How come you not going for the newer phone models?
kitty88uk It has security updates until May 2028 so I'm good with it and it's powerful enough as it is for what I'd want (emulate consoles like Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube/Wii, but not too often).
PhilipMarc oh is that so, you are a big fan is games! wow updates until May 2028! Samsung phones are cheaper in price right? How much was yours? Mine back in 2016 was £600 I think
kitty88uk £200 used, no scratches from Cash Converters (I don't mind electrical stuff being used as long as I agree with the condition). New it'd be £300.
And yes, I do like games though I've been losing interest of it along the years.
I've been trying online dating websites to spark a conversation, but it's hard as I get no response. I'll probably have to try the old way... Bars.
PhilipMarc I see that’s good you use second hand items! Is that so, yeah you can lose interest in things. Oh right hope it all goes well for you to find someone! the old way.. how old are you?
