Police 'Staggered' to Find Boy, 11, Driving BMW Towing Caravan on M1

In the News

It is bad enough police stopping a vehicle to find an 11 year old at the wheel , but even more astounding when the vehicle was pulling a caravan !!

Not only that but he had stolen the BMW and caravan from a holiday site and when police searched the car they found equipment typically used by suspects to carry out thefts and a selection of vehicle registration plates."

It is not an easy feat for some adults to drive a car pulling a caravan, never mind a child , but also having the 'skills' for want of a better word to steal both vehicles is beyond belief

What next, car thieves in nappies sucking a dummy ?

telmel Tomorrow's criminal. Commit a crime, arrested, sentenced to a young offender institution and repeat the whole process all over again.

With the rise of thefts these days you even need to nail your grass down!

I wonder whether he did this off his own bat or whether h was co-coerced into it by older family members or 'friends' who would know that he would get off relatively lightly if caught!

tumblespots Good point T, minors are normally not prosecuted in the way adults are

One has to wonder at the upbringing this child has had, sounds like a modern day Artful Dodger. I wonder who the Fagin is that he answers to.

I'd say I'm shocked but I'm not. Working with kids is an eye opener. Sadly I expect stuff like this. Sadly it's how some are brought up parents don't parent and give so many excuses and blame everyone but themselves

Probably a traveller’s kid. I’m not saying all travellers are thieves but I’ve definitely witnessed some thieving when they visit around here, which is fairly often. Not witnessed car theft though. On my nextdoor app always hearing of motorhomes/caravans being stolen or attempted and it’s always when they are about here.

JLouM You could be right J , the kids grow up living in caravans so are very familiar with them concerning hitching and unhitching , and probably had lessons from the parents driving a car with one attached
