Would you still post on LD if the points system were removed? Do you think we would see less people taking the time to post deals and engage in chat?

Yeah, if there was an option to hide the points I'd activate that.

Yeah I would. But i think a lot of people wouldn't bother with the chat. TBH, without those people posting inane topics about cat vs dog, we would have better content here.

there is plenty of other chat topics on here so something for everyone. maybe cat vs dog conversations are interesting to other people. they seem to be getting comments

no I wouldn't post deals as it takes time to search for them and points are awarded to motivate people to do this. that's how the site works

I probably would as long as it's fair and equal and nobody was awarded points or incentives to post.

I used to post on another well known site but when they introduced a two tier system whereby some selected people got incentives whereas other got nothing, I gave up with that site .

Everyone should be treated equally regardless

I would but in all honesty it would be less frequent than now. I enjoy the deals and the chat but I also enjoy the added bonus of the points system.

I would post if I had time. Sometimes I do not find good deals, so I do not post any and sometimes just have no time or energy to hunt deals.

When I first signed up the points were a big reason why. The points were very much pushed. Unlike other sites this one would give you a reward for taking part. At the time everyone seemed very up for this. It's only in the last month or so that people who post here seem to not want the points anymore.

ShellyAnn I have not seen anyone say they do not want points anymore. Some people, including myself, have just suggested they be applied slightly differently. It does not make for an interesting chat section when people go to chat, post two topics with no chat value at all (ping versus pong) and never even have the grace to go back and make any further comment to many who take the time and trouble to answer them. In my case this is often for no points as I comment far more than 5 per day.

It is a case of, I will just put any old thing to get my points quota, and although people may think it is no biggie it defeats the spirit of chat. If the points were given after say 3 replies people would think more about the topics they post.

Tom himself has recently shut down a repeat topic and I have lost count of how many favourite book/read etc posted in just a couple of days.

Yes, in the scheme of things this is not earth shattering but if people do this too much others will just follow and put any old thing for the points. In fact, today I am short of time so will try posting a couple of topics of this kind.

As to deals there are many where, for example, crisps have been on offer and the poster has posted each flavour SEPARATELY. Again the founders suggested they be reported as duplicates. All of us could do that as supermarket food and Amazon posts seem to make up the majority. I don't think I will bother spending an hour a day going through 60plus emails to post interesting deals any more if i can get my 300 points much easier. Someone said about 'lighten up ' but we are all responsible for making this site the best it can be as we do get generously rewarded for doing so.

I would definitely use this site whatever as I enjoy all parts of it but I probably would be posting less deals etc 🥺

Needs to encourage quality on deals. So maybe 10 points for listing and 10 extra points for likes on your post upto 100 points max.

Save the run of the mill deals. Or the ones who post variants of an offer.

Yes I would. I would still use the chat section as I enjoy commenting on the posts and talking to people. I don't really have time to search for deals so probably wouldn't be posting them.

I would, but will say that the points system does make me more keen to actively seek out deals .. without the system, I'd probably just post them when I naturally come across them.

I like receiving the points after posting good deals its certainly an incentive getting the occasional Amazon voucher. Keep posting the offers please obviously not all are valid for me but some definitely are. If anything maybe more points for posting as there is effort involved.
