How Often Do You Replace Your Hair Brush?
Ask a Question
I got my current one not too long ago maybe just been a year now. But the material of the handle is silicone I think so there’s lots of dusts on it and no matter hot much I wipe clean it’s the same!!..
And I don’t like seeing hair brush getting dusty either so I do use shampoo to wash it. Does anyone else do the same lol
I don't actually own a hair brush. I just use my fingers to brush my hair. It works for me. I used to have a hair brush years ago and even then didn't really use it. Didn't like the feel of it on my scalp.
Probably 2 times a year but is cleaned after every use and washed with disinfectant every week because my hair is so thick its hard to find the right hair brush
I use my fingers lol, I buy my wife a brush set every year, so she replaces them, once a year
I just buy new one every 3 months because I hate when it looks like dust is on my hair brush I wonder why that happens
ClaireBrowett That happens with one of my sturdy hair brushes - I think it's a type of plastic and maybe a kind of static that dirt clings to it. It's probably cleaning dust/dirt in your hair that you can't see so it's probably doing it's job like they were invented for in the old ages. I wash it most times I use it.
hky thank u for letting me now what it could be that sound about right after all the dust we get around use and when out side it more then likely true is that what people say from back long time ago thank u
ClaireBrowett No prob I didn't know many other people had the dust problem too. It's just that one sturdy hairbrush I've recently gone back to, that won't break after going through others that have broken, that has really bad 'static' cling. I think products made a long time ago are made to last compared to ones made nowadays.
I had my last hairbrush for years, it was regularly cleaned but eventually a lot of the plastic bristles came off. I tried for a long to replace it with the same one but no luck.
eyeballkerry yeah tell me about it! You get a hair brush and it’s so good that when it breaks can’t buy the same one again! should have gotten another one for spare lol
Can’t believe the prices of hair brushes these days!
One I got from Wilko before it closed down costs £1 lol been a year or so and the bristles are getting lumpy so soon have to get new one otherwise it can damage your scalp!!
MelissaLee1 Lmao using a fork ?!! Tell me you are joking cause I don’t believe that whatsoever it’s metal and can damage your scalp!
kitty88uk Not in a regular or aggressive way lol.I love an ayurvedic indian head massage and a scalp scratch n scrape lol.I have a thick solid head of hair even at 61 but then I never use dye or treatments,
MelissaLee1 oh wow nice to hear that! Even better or using hair dye too! I use to dye my hair by myself at home every time I cut hair but I haven’t had one since start of October 2022 lol
kitty88uk I am tempted sometimes but feel that I have earnt my grey hair. When it goes all white I'll probably spray some crazy colour in lol.
Yes, my hairbrushes are washed regularly because I use hairspray. I used to pull all hair off then put it in the dishwasher until one day my husband emptied the dishwasher and found it on the top shelf.
ClaireBrowett lol me either lol
Oh well they can do what they want, I still don’t find it hygienic lol
I've been using hand sanitiser spray on mine for a while now, not sure if it's an effective way to do it but it is definitely the easiest way for me as I am less abled. I still get a new hair brush every few months and remove any loose strands left in it after I use it by running a tail comb through the bristles.
EmmaWright762 oh I see yeah I did think to use hand gel too but I don’t like the strong alcoholic smell lol
So after every use take all the hair and bits of dusts out and use shampoo when it gets too dirty lol
I purchased a new brush when needed, and I clean it after every use but I only wash my hairbrush every week with shampoo
tara73ziva that sounds about right lol I always get rid of the hair every morning and use it only then, definitely replace brush when bristles are worn out before damages my scalp
I used to have a hairbrush that actually lasted 2 or 3 years with this one from Wilko just about a year or so and the texture is starting to change
Need to get a new one lol it’s like they don’t make them like they used to or I don’t buy the ones over £5 lol
Don’t see the point spending that much money on one if they are all the same doesn’t last long!
When it breaks and is no longer fit for purpose. Otherwise I shampoo them from time to time.
Whenever my cat nicks it and I give up looking for it. It then turns up about a week later!
suevernon1968 haha is that so lol what does your cat do with your hair brush? Buy another one as a spare though it may nick that one too
kitty88uk he is just naughty. I have 5 cats and he is the only one who steals things. I like my colouring books but he chews on the end of pencil that I’m using. If I take my glasses off and he will nick those if I’m not quick enough. When the shopping has been carried in he is like a kid in a sweet shop - so much stuff for him to try to steal. I can no longer put the toilet roll on the proper holder as he just unrolls it. I have 11 grandchildren and my gorgeous cats behaviour is worse than all of theirs !
suevernon1968 wow that’s a lot of cats do they fight with each other at times? Haha cheeky likes to steal things I guess he is curious
kitty88uk they never fight - they are indoor cats too. They door have major playtime’s when they all just run round the house like nutters and they go a bit odd when there is a storm on they way lol.
suevernon1968 that’s nice they must be so cute have any photos to show me lol I can see your profile pic so adorable~~
Jerseydrew yes same here, can’t believe the prices of hair brushes nowadays they are over £5!! Like why? They just break over time!! I buy ones that are £1
kitty88uk I've had mine for years. I buy a decent one. I use denmin ones. Love that brand
Jerseydrew oh wow really? I’ve not heard of that brand before, how much does it cost? I had one years ago also last me a few years
