Do You Practice Hurkle-Durkle When You Wake up in the Morning ?
Ask a Question
No, it's not what you might think , and it is actually a real word, or two
Not only that , it has been practiced for over 200 years in Scotland
Hurkle-durkle is the art of waking up slowly so you feel less stressed rushing about to get ready
So you lounge in bed an extra 10 to 15 minutes and rise slowly
No more setting and resetting that alarm to get extra sleep though
Are you a Hurkle-durkler or a manic riser ?

I lean more towards hurkle durkler cos I stretch and bend before rising and then sit on the side of the bed and give thanks for waking up to endure/enjoy another day. This all goes to rack and ruin if the cat has other thoughts.
I would be a hurkle durkler, especially when I set an alarm to go somewhere. I always end up hitting the snooze button and knocking it off. That is, unless I desperately need to go to the toilet, or my sons cat is on my bed crying too. Then I'd be a manic riser alright lol.
A bit of both. On work days and alarm goes off I’m up there and then. On non work days though I’m a hurkle durkler.
I have never heard of this but this is literally what I do most mornings. Although my lounging in bed involves breakfast and watching tv before I get up.
telmel I am lucky that both my husband and I retired early so we can now relax and enjoy the simple things in life plus travel more. Nearly every morning I make my husband breakfast in bed.
