Prices Gone up in Asda since App Has Gone Live in All Stores

Have you notice that prices have gone up since the asda app has gone live in all stores.
Things like the just essential spread was 80p before now 83p
I do not shop in Asda enough to notice but I do find their yellow sticker items are really reduced, got some great deals the other day and filled up the freezer.
It always ends up this way, use our data tracking or pay more. As always look at the unintended exceptions and take full advantage.
I have only been doing my shop in Asda because I won a voucher for there, but I haven't noticed the price increase in our store since the app was introduced.
Prices are going up everywhere it may not be related to the app just the horrific food price inflation we have at the moment.
I know it's a naughty word but I've stock pilled a few store cupboard bits at the cheaper prices so I get a bit of breathing space x
k4ren2006 Yes I've done that too. There are some jarred olives that previously were £2 a jar and I think they had been that price for about 2-3 years but then I went in and saw they were £2.20 a jar so bought two jars because such products had gone up in other shops even more and going back to Tesco just a couple of days later they were I think £2.40 or £2.50 a jar.
You see some products maybe because supermarkets had good stock that are still at the old prices and that is always a flag for me to buy some at that price knowing that they will jump in price soon. Even if the value of sterling tanks and imports are more expensive it still effects produce from the UK because of the huge increase in energy and fuel costs that effect every industry. So yes imports will get much more expensive but our own produce won't be that far behind. I'm not as effected as other people as I tend to try to buy UK products where possible so I'm guessing more of my basket would be UK produced, not just for economic reasons but some countries have horrific slaughterhouses like Spain, Italy and the eastern bloc countries with very poor regulation and conditions. I'm sure there are exceptions and that criticism doesn't apply to all facilities there but I'm just not comfortable with it. So for meat products I tend to try to be more careful. Pointless worrying for processed food like chilled meals and tinned though as many of those use low grade meats from places like South America etc which are even worse. For chilled meals I tend to buy better quality meals reduced at the end of the day and don't really buy tinned meat products very much except for fish.

Tried to use it today. There’s a strange glitch where you’re unable to use a gift card after scanning the app without a manager verifying the purchase. Very inconvenient
Well the customers always have to pay for everything in the end, no such thing as a free rewards as they still need to give their shareholders high profits and dividends. With the push towards more self scan either at those style tills or via device/app around, prices will also have to go up to cover the cost of those people who abuse it by stealing stock, shop lifters paradise! The supermarkets admit they lose millions to this kind of theft but they still carry on. I’ve just found out my huge sainsburys is going to shut the majority of its staffed tills and just leave 6
They might save staff costs but theft will go up, it really is false economy
Gromit22 Theft costs everyone in this country about £73 per year but I guess the working population is about half the population at around 30 million so that is almost £150 per year added to our shop bills. However I think convenience store theft is higher so they take a disproportionately higher theft hit.
I'm surprised more shops don't run membership schemes which credit check all applicants to make sure they don't have criminal records. Wholesalers and shops with membership schemes have far less theft typically. Not only does this mean they can prevent membership of some it also means they have the identity of everyone in the store. The membership fee could be trivial and self-renews for free if you buy X amount per year which could be set quite low anyway.
Lets face it shop theft is going to increase massively as we become poorer and more people are desperate and take more risks. That figure of £73 per head is likely to increase massively over the next few years. Which is another factor to food price inflation.
