Problems Sleeping
Ask a Question
Find a good book to read. 1) it will entertain you and 2) your eyes will get so tired you will drop off naturally. Have a warm bath in the evening.
I always go out walking in the evening, I sleep with the windows open for fresh air and not a stuffy room. I try not to drink too close to bedtime and definitely not eat. I do like to sleep with the tv on, probably not a good idea, but if its a program i have seen before, I go off very quickly.
eyeballkerry I've actually just got back in from a nice walk so thanks for your comments xx
eyeballkerry My dad naps with the tv on and wakes up when it's turned off - I think different background noises help different people. Sometimes when it's too quite, your mind starts wandering. But the noise might not help with quality sleep.
Positive sleep routine works for some people. A few hours before going to bed, have a bath with some nice relaxing bubble bath and disengage from technology for at least 1 hour before going to bed.
I read recently you need the bedroom to be in complete darkness to get the best sleep as any light source filtering in will disturb your sleep and cause other problems
Heres some advice from google about it
Exposure to light at night disrupts the natural sleep-wake cycle and leads to health issues such as heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and cancer. Sleeping in complete darkness regulates melatonin production and reduces the risk of chronic diseases and depression, which leads to a longer and healthier life.Aug 23, 2023
telmel I agree. I have always been anti parents who start babies off on their sleep journey with night lights. If they can see their toys etc around them it is distracting and they start crying because they don't know what is expected of them. My own boys would, if I left hall light on, shout down to me to turn it off but they were allowed 30minutes reading prior to 'lights out'.
Really sorry to hear you aren't sleeping. I have the same issue regularly.

Light is also a bit factor, I find.
A nice cool, clean, dark room. (I always find a pleasant smell helps!) Lavender and camomile is suppose to naturally help.
Turn down the lights before bed, if you don't have dimmers, get some lamps and can even turn your TV darkness down if you watch TV up until bed, but try not to watch TV or use any devices at least an hour before bed. No food at least 4 hours before sleeping too. If you really struggle, try not to have any caffeine, if you do, not past 1pm.
There is definitely some truth to the routine though. I've known people that used to nap at a certain time of day, then the days they were busier and didn't want to nap, they felt really tired and needed to sleep at that time of day.
I’ve started using CBD oil spray, it seems to help. It’s the high strength one and you only need two squirts at bedtime.
Could you be lacking vitamins/nutrients/protein etc? - as that can affect sleep. I'd say diet can be a big factor, what you eat and what you haven't eaten, how it affects your body (since everyone's different).
