Prosecution for Feeding Wild Animals?

Ask a Question

Should tourists face prosecution for feeding wild animals? 🦌

A highlands red stag had to be euthanized due to health issues caused by visitors feeding him inappropriate foods like crisps and croissants. Is it time for stricter measures?

Oh poor Stag some people need to use their brains what they are born with it's a hard one do they bring in stricter measures or not on one hand people enjoy feeding wild life but I think they need to be educated what food s can be given around the village where we live we get a few people putting out all sorts of food for the foxes and other wild life

Aw, that's sad. RIP.

There's a proverb about it: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."

You know, this made me think of a monkey that people fed him sweets or whatever, he got really fat... And then he died. 😕

You wouldn't feed a family relative just sweets (inc. cereals), right? Oh, there's plenty who do that so no wonder they do it to animals. 😑

Perhaps a warning both on a sign and on local media that they will have to prevent people from entering that land if a further incident occurs. It would be very tempting to spoil such beautiful creatures, but they really do need to maintain their natural diet, and if that means people are kept out, then so be it.

This is another example of local councils trying to protect wild animals.

Anyone who feeds or pets ponies in the New Forest could be prosecuted and fined £1,000 in council plans that have now been approved.

Wtaf. That's so wrong. Food dropping on the floor is one thing but actually doing it on purpose is disgusting. I feed wild birds with bird seed. I've swan and duck food in the car and seed on the balcony.

Henry 111 had an elephant who the keepers gave a gallon of wine everyday. Suffice it to say he didn't live very long .Jumbo in London zoo had an aggressive toothache which was brought on by people feeding him way too many sticky buns.

It is a shame when you hear this sort of thing, some people don’t know the damage they can cause and others just don’t care.

I don’t know what the answer is but if they do introduce fines that would be very difficult to police.

It should be for any animal..I have 2 horses and when they are out grazing..I have found potatoes. Lemons.cucumber oranges.just a few to mention..we have signs up asking not to feed them but they take no notice..
