Should Pubs Charge for Watching the Footy?
Ask a Question
Should pubs charge you to watch football? Some are asking for £10 per table to £30 per person.
What's your take on this?
No way I'd pay £30, I'd stay at home and watch it, free football is why people go in the first place
No obviously not. They will make far more than usual from selling drinks and food to make it necessary. If they are they are taking what is preverbally known as a word that tastes the same as their beer. lol
I am not a football fan but for those who are, it is a bit excessive to say the least! Best stop at home and watch from there but I do appreciate that some like the collective viewing and atmosphere with their best mates.
In America they often have a cover charge for big sporting events which means you must spend a certain amount on food/drink. I’m not against that really as I accept that these businesses need to make money.
I personally probably wouldn’t pay money to watch a match i can watch on my tv for free but as long as it’s reasonable it’s not too bad.
That's my Niece A, her husband S & his business partner R & R's wife's Ow Do Cafe Bar in Rotherham Centre..
Ow Do Bar is going for the private functions but open during the England matches, the owners have kitted out the back of their Cafe Bar like a pub garden especially for the Euros & were charging £10 per person but you got your first drink included...
They put a Family Fun Day on with a Magician last Saturday & next Saturday they are having a Kids Penalty Shoot Out & Bouncy Castle...
Food is available for a small price..
No as they are charging for the beer and other drinks the tv is usually on and also less people would go to the pub to watch it if you were charged
The pubs are paying through the nose to play the football so I dont see a problem of a small charge. At the end of the day you can decide to go elsewhere.
Pubs make enough money charging astronomical amounts for a glass of wine. I can buy a nice bottle for £10.
What a rip off with the price of drinks and the cost of living like it is I would not pay to watch football in a pub
