Ask a Question
Can you remember what your 1st Christmas present was, what age you were when you recieved it and do they still produce the toy (or a close version) in today's market??
A little milk float.I delivered milk to mum and dad in bed and my little legs carried me on it all around the house. It was great.
MelissaLee1 wow that sounds amazing and so much fun......wish kids could just be kids these days
Bonnylass3 At 16 yrs old I got a Saturday job in the Express Dairy..just wasn't the same.I remember one morning pouring stale milk and congealed yoghurts away with a horrendous hangover.
MelissaLee1 oh no that's proper hard-core, don't think I could have been able to do that in a million years, take my hat off to you!!
Can't remember what age it was but it was
Sindy Wild Hair Studio it had felt tips to and stencils to do her hair
Leannexxx oh god me too was one of my first memories and oil bath pearls on the same Xmas, I loved that doll
Leannexxx think Sindy has to be an 100% class act toy, and will carry on for many years yet
calleighisabell Cindy seems to be very popular even with the young children of today
Leannexxx I managed to purchase a ballet dancer Cindy from Hamleys appro 4yrs ago, my Granddaughter has got 24 different Cindy's, and she gets them for Christmas and birthdays
I was 2 on December 9th, and that Christmas I asked for and received a bagatelle. I insisted the adults had to put out my Nan's coal fire when I went to bed
Really can not remember my first Christmas present but I do remember my dad, who is still alive and divorced from mum purchased two gifts for me when I was a child. I still remember those two gifts.
Bonnylass3 The first one was a bike which had dynamo lights and the second was a mini black and white tv with radio and cassette player
I was probably around 5 as birthday is Christmas. We had a sock that had an orange in it but we gave it back to mam for a fruit salad. The toy was a tin plate Robbie the Robot that moved with batteries and bits lit up. This was so cool as Lost in Space was black and white around 1964/5.
Simple things.
Oh and no birthday present.
Apparently my prezzie was more expensive than my sisters and brother.
BobtheBuilder1 I remember my dad telling me this true story.....I think it makes you appreciate toys, books and other products a lot more, and kids seem to take more care for their toys etc
Not sure about the first but I was very lucky and remember getting the big yellow teapot one year and a aller cart(not Sure if that how it's spelt) kitchen the following year, hours of fun
slightfoot wow I actually remember that toy , didn't it have a red lid, wow love remembering all these lovely toys and the memories that you have made
I remember when I confirmed what my older brother had told me about santa not being real, I snuck down the stairs Christmas eve, mum was frantically wrapping and dad was chomping Santa mince pie!!!!! I was about 5 year old and gutted
slightfoot oh no, that's got to be the worse thing ever, you feel like the world has ended, and then suddenly you must thing is Santa still coming after seeing your dad filling his face lol x
I can’t remember my first one but i do remember getting a PS1 when i was a kid. I actually snuck into my parents room and looked at my gifts the night before, I’ve felt guilty about that ever since
jms19 Guilty of that a couple of times as well! There was a Juke Box Jive record on top of the wardrobe and I snuck it down a couple of times before Christmas.
jms19 oh naughty you, but I bet every kid did that or was dying to do , but some were not supposed to be able to find where Santa had left their presents
MelissaLee1 tut tut tut, but you were just one of the brave ones who hoped they'd never get caught lol
I can't remember my first Christmas present but let's just say when my little sister came along whatever she opened from relatives, you could guarantee that I received the same present!
There is 21 month between us & mum always dressed us the same even though my older sister is almost a year older so nearer my age!!
janphoenix51 OMG and you still get parents doing this now, that gave me a good laugh thanks
I do not know how old I was, but I remember getting a Rowland rat teddy bear in which I still have today
I don't know what my first Christmas present was but I can remember getting a Barbie caravan. I had wanted it for ages and my parents said that Santa might not be able to bring it so I was so excited when I saw it Christmas morning.
Just remembered what mine was.It was a doll's house made by my grandfather who was a carpenter by trade.I was under 5 years of age at the time.He lived in Northamptonshire and I lived with my family in Nottingham and it was sent in chicken wire on a wooden base!
Mine was this lovely lady called Doll given to me by my Great Grandparents Christmas 1958.
lilyflower thanks for the lovely photo, you just don't see girls with these any more
The 1st present I remember getting when I was maybe 9, my dad made me an all in 1 wooden desk, it was amazing and I had a 2nd hand typewriter in a little blue case to go with it. The desk is still knocking about somewhere in the attic
The best presents I remember getting I'm not sure if there was all at Christmas or birthday. But I loved a foam Pluto toy it had wire inside it's legs so could bend into different positions. I also once got a light up mouse which I loved to take to bed with me. But the best one was a Walkman I remember opening it on my parents bed and was so excited. I got a Ronald McDonald cassette tape to go with it. Listening to tapes on it was amazing it really blew my mind. I'd never heard music through headphones before. I was so happy!
